Does this strike anybody as a rather patronizing way to treat the accomplishments of a fine military officer? Yes, which is why I posted it. It seems they want to make his success based on their work rather than his own.

Then I'm sure you'll appreciate the irony here; usually the "pro-affirmative action" crowd would denounce these Black Americans as "sell-outs" and "Uncle Toms", but they'll still use them for their own purposes when it's convenient.
Or am I just being too cynical?
