I don't think its the 4th.

Based on seeing the CNN entrance into the city last night, I don't know that there seemed to be a huge force there, but Tikrit is supposed to have an "underground city" where forces could be hiding.

U.S. Marines battled Iraqi forces

Thanks. It helps to read the article, I guess.

"There are Iraqi tanks in the town, and they are manned."

Not for long.

Sounds silly. Can't hide for ever, and can't mount an effective attack from a few holes in the ground.

Beat me to it... anyone else notice how completely deserted Tikrit was last night?

The Ba'athists haven't been real good at figuring out where it is they do fight effectively from.

We already know they're obsessed with underground bunkers and complexes. This sounds like the same bunch of delusional, self-destructive madmen we've been dealing with all along.

"The U.S. jumped forward 160 km overnight and surprised many of the Iraqi forces. At least that's the American interpretation," he said."

SOB's!

They have received decades of training from their Russian Whore$, aka Military Advisors. These whackos are still fighting the war of Stalinberg or some other WWII battle won with our materials.

One can only hope that the Syrians and Iranians have gotten the same great advice from their Russian Whore$, aka Military Advisors.
