Good freeping with you yesterday. What happened on your way back to the Post? We never saw you. You missed a great one. Thanks for the ride. Please ping me when you put your photos up. I'd love to see them.
Oh, and thanks to your daughter, I finally understand your name!

As I reported in a previous post- I am cable deprived, so early this morning I headed out to my local friendly truck stop, where cable is available in the professional driver's lounge, and proceeded to watch the latest from the front lines. To my surprise while channel surfing my way to FOX news, I stumbled upon CSPAN and to my delight, was able to watch the rally in almost it's entirety. It was absolutely perfect. Thanks for the lyrics- as country music fans already know, there is real substance in the words expressed by the music genre's artists.

I would like to respectfully disagree with your take on the motive of G Gordon Liddy 100%. I don't think you could be more wrong. Very crass and cynical viewpoint if I do say so. I have taken to listening to the G man just recently and have heard how and why G man put this rally on.
First off, yes it does take some coin to fund the logistics and equipment that was used at the rally. That is precisely why you haven't seen one rally right after the other, taking place using the kind of appropriate and professional equipment that you saw being used at the this particular rally. I never heard anyone mention the call signs of G man's flagship station. The MC did mention Laura Ingraham's call letters to her station.
G man has two sons in combat. One a Marine officer in Iraq, and the other a Navy officer with the SEALs, possibly in Afghanistan. The G man doesn't even know for sure where his other son is. That's enough of a reason for the G man to be involved, without having someone like yourself conjuring up some kind of self serving motive. This is just my opinion, but I think you have some kind of preconceived notions about the G man and or the rally.
Did you see any buses where the masses of people arrived at the rally in ? I didn't, unlike the leftists.
I just re-read your post and you attempt to disparage the rally at every opportunity. You seek cover by stating the people attending were behind the troops and that you are behind America and our troops. Then you belittle the rally with digs in practically every sentence. Shame on you.
You completely ignore the prime sponsors: America's Youth Foundation and the Citizens United Foundation. Again, shame on you. AYF's founder was the MC- Floyd Brown, and CUF's president, with the last name of Bossie spoke. Now you are really getting my dander up. You insult the time and effort that both of these fine men and their respective organizations put into the rally. Shame on you once again. To borrow your words- just being honest.
You state there was an ugly background of taking advantage of just doing this for a radio station. Are you sure you didn't get lost ? The CANSWER antiwar protest will be shown on CSPAN, don't miss it. Just being honest.
Did you see the two female active duty US Armed Forces members brought onstage so they could be honored and given flowers ? Did you here the MC talk about straying from the script ? Was that spontaneous enough for you ? Did you see that they played the video a second time because the crowd had swelled ? Was that spontaneous enough for you ?
You make it sound like there is something wrong with planning out such an event and that providing the logistics is somehow self serving. Would you have preferred chaos ? Would that indicate grassroots support ?
Where did you get your attendance figures ?
Why do you refer to Harrisburg, PA., as- a little po dunk ? Your attempt to disparage the size of the crowd is blatant and an insult to the rally in DC and PA.
You and your post are one big downer ! Just being honest.

Aziz Atlaee- I can't say enough about his humbleness and gratitude for the US of A. I only wish some of the people in this country cared about America, half as much as Aziz Atlaee does. I wish him and the citizens of Iraq as much good fortune as I possibly can.

I didn't attend the Washington Post Freep because:
1. I was totally sunburnt.
2. My job at the press table required talking a lot (that's why I like it) over the crowd noise and I was hoarse.
3. My out of town guest, hobsonphile, hadn't yet eaten all day.
4. I'm still confused by the Code Pink ladies who thought my criticism of CNN proved my bona fides as a leftist because they think CNN is right-wing!
5. ****Drumroll**** I wasn't sure that if I went, I wouldn't be thereafter Permanently Confused about counter-protesting leftists protesting coverage by the Washington Post. The same Washington Post that called our last Freep "Republican" and, at the counterFreep before that, miscounted (by an order of ten) and misquoted (quoting a leftist parody comment as from one of us). The same Washington Post that just refuses to report on the news story right under their nose: the affiliation and funding and news context for ANSWER, the people who first protested war on 9/26/01 when it was the war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Yeah, it's definitely 5. I mean, lol, I'm glad you guys had fun and all, but you'll have to spend the rest of your activist days trying to explain how it was that you were there and whether, in such a context, the enemy of your enemy is your friend. ;) Highly confusing. Who's on first?

Other than the period of time we didn't have the customary police protection and I thought we might get jumped by some of the leftie scum - with my knees starting to shake, yeah, I guess you could say we were having fun.
I did keep thinking, "Oh, the irony of possibly getting our butts stomped by a bunch of lefties while appearing to defend the offices of the WP."

I ended up spending all my time maneuvering through the DC streets between the Mall and the WP, shuttling FReepers who wanted to taunt the commies, and I didn't get back to the WP in time to do any taunting and photo-taking. Dagnabbit!
This is the first one I've missed since September 29, 2001.
But I did some dang good driving through DC streets, avoiding most of the traffic jams and street shut-downs, and was able to make two runs with FReepers before time ran out. I had a super-secret plan, formulated on-the-fly, that enabled me to avoid the traffic jams. I can't tell anyone publicly, but I will share it at the next tin-foil-hat meeting.

Seriously though, thanks to all of you for keeping her safe.
Daughter, you got to have all the fun taunting the lefties yesterday. (stomping feet) It's not fair!

Bahaha...'Pod and I just finished watching the LA ANSWER rally on CSpan. The crowd was teeny. The songs were hysterical.
I'm puzzled though, I thought C-Span only covered events in DC.
Anyway, sorry it was over yesterday before you could get there. Quite a switch from Jan. 18, when I feared that the commies would be marching into the night...
To: CheneyChick
I was wondering where GGL got his info about the barbaric treatment.
To: hellinahandcart; All
No wonder you feared the commies would be marching into the night on January 18 -- we only spied some of the same distinctive signs (and Dove of Peace) passing us by at least three times!
Good to see you again. So glad that the DC Chapter table was jammed with people eager to sign our banner and to write a message to the troops. The messages on the banner are wonderful and I will try to type some of them for posting before the banner is sent to the front lines in Iraq.

That LA C.A.N.S.W.E.R. rally was a riot. My wife and I got back from Napa Valley this afternoon and saw it while turning channels. Some guy was singing in Spanish and then they panned to the 18 in attendance. I was rolling on the floor laughing! Yesterday in San Francisco, they had 2,500 (I didn't type it wrong!!!!) show up in a driving rain for their rally.
We watched the rally last night and salute you all in DC. We wished we could have been there!!!!!!

But there was an ugly background of taking advantage of just doing this for a radio station. There was not that spontainty and uncertainty. This was a planned and paid commercial. Sorry, being honest. I couldn't find anything honest in your comments. Just criticism. Did you even go to the rally? I was there, and it was extremely impressive!
