I don't think so. Let's not allow irrational exuberance to get in the way of rational thought.

Winning the Cold War, getting real tax reform passed into law and rebuilding America's economy, military and regaining our respect and status in the world, were all huge accomplishments. Any President would be proud of those great achievements. And as Michael Reagan confidently likes to say, if Ronald Reagan was President, there would have been no 9-11. I'm confident of that too.

The truth is, President Bush has been doing a remarkable job for America. His leadership has been strong and solid, and his politics have been sound and steady. And I hope and pray that continues through 2008.

George W. Bush, in spite of vicious opposition from Leftists of every stripe in this country and abroad, has been resolute. He has not wavered. He has stuck by his determination to not give the terrorists any chance to catch their breath or to regroup-no opportunity to carry out their desire to bring additional harm to more innocent men, women and children.

With all due respect Mears, you would let ONE issue decide your vote?

I'm shocked.

There will never ever be a President that is elected who we will agree 100 percent with in all situations.

That just seems humanly impossible.

We didn't agree with his immigration policies before 9/11. We were vocal about that. But we also realize those policies could have changed SINCE 9/11.

Even if they haven't/aren't changed, It would not change our vote for this man. He is absolutely a brilliant President.

His ACTIONS speak louder than his WORDS.

Wow.. GREAT article. It ties things that have happened since the campaign until now, quite well. BRAVO!!

There were so many things that were noteworthy in this article.

A TON of information. I will save this article for debating those who question so much about this Administration and President Bush's election.

But this one was extremely poignant:

We were constantly saying that Al Gore cared more about winning, than he did the "PEACEFUL" SMOOTH transition of power in this country.

There was so much HYPE about the media doing recounts. But when they did..and the results STILL showed President Bush won.. there was very little fanfare about it.

Had they shown he had not truly won, there would have been MUCH FANFARE.

I honestly think Americans are waking up to the reality of the power hungry Democrats. Not only did a candidate put HIMSELF over the good of the country.. but the Dems are so upset about the multitude of successes by this administration, that they can't even support our troops during war.

They deserve what I think they are going to get. Which is less and less power, and more people voting for President Bush in 2004, and the continued majority of the Senate and Congress being held by Republicans.

At some point, I'd like to see Republicans use their political power to make good on some of the policies they've bene promoting during the elections. I'm particularly interested in Social Security retirement accounts and school choice. I'm not one of these types that bites the hand that feeds me- that bashes Republicans for being "cowards" at every opportunity. However, sometimes you have to make a gambit- build public support for the policy (in the case of school choice) and go for it. I thought we'd get SS reform in Bush's first term- doesn't look like it anymore. We've got the Presidency, House, Senate, and generally the people's support. Now, we just need the willingness to take a few calculated, political risks.

Not for nothing, and I don't want to be overly argumentative here, and immigration needs to be reigned in (immigration moratorium NOW!), but it WASN'T MEXICANS WHO BLEW UP THE TRADE CENTER. Nor any of those other places/things, neither.

Say what you like about Mexican immigration, and I would probably agree, or might disagree with you, my larger concern is Saudi, Egyptian, etc. Middle Eastern engineering, chemistry, biology, etc. undergrads and grad students scare me more than Mexican babysitters, maids, chauffers, landscapers.

The illegal Irish bartenders don't scare me either, but I think they all might have gone home to the "emerald tiger" by now. Or if they haven't they may, since the Bloomberg Cigarette Prohibition took effect!
