I used to be one of the men who believed women did not belong in the military. But I accept the fact that we fought that battle long ago. We lost. They won. Simple as that.

Now that women have won the right to serve in our military on more or less an equal par with men, I feel that they should honor the oath that they took when they joined the military. That is essentially to defend our country when called upon to do so by the commander-in-chief.

Such being the case, I think that the women fighting for us overseas deserve the same support and gratitude as the fighting men whether or not we agree with the policy.

I don't think sending women into combat zones is a solution for a shortage of men.

As you suggest, a real solution is to increase the enlistment of men.

Putting women in the combat zone hurts the ability and morale of our troops and panders to feminists. Both of these are the objectives of the Democratic party.

Muslims do have a great hatred for "infidel" women. Eventually we are going to find out what happened to Pfc Lynch, and homefront morale will take a hit too.

As I've said it on another thread,

Any nation that sends its wives, its daughters, its sisters and its mothers off to meet the barbarians on the field of battle has lost its soul. And is sick.

There is a reason that no tribe or nation (with rare disparite exceptions) has sent its women to fight to men of the savages.

That wasn't my point. I simply meant that fighting a war is sometimes necessary, because the alternative is worse.

It's never over till it's over. We are seeing the results of Clintons emasculation of our armed forces. Everyone celebrates Pfc Lynch's rescue. Not too many people want to talk about the fate of Lori Piestewa. Why did they kill her and not Jessica? Could it be she was less of an attractive rape target?

No one said they deserve no support while they're there. Who has been critical of PFC Lynch, for instance? Heck, I even suggested that if the stories of her hard fighting were to be believed, she deserves possibly even a DSC.

But the sooner we roll back these horrid, social-engineering based policies, the better.

Well I did say it, it was something that I thought I read somewhere. I probably read it on this forum. If you are the origin of that great thought then I give you props.

Thanks, Illbay you've got some good posts.

(Mind if I use that line again?)

Depends. Describe the individuals to me.

Although in the situation as you describe it, "both" seems like the most intelligent answer.

It's true, not matter who said it.

However, I have to say that seeing "our boys" who've been fighting this war, my hope for our country and our society has been buoyed appreciably.

I agree,

One of the boys is my cousin. He is a sniper serving with the 1st Division, 7th Regiment Marines. I got to see his picture on the front page of the Tulsa World. He was with a group of 4 Marines doing a room to room search. I'll bet he will have some tales to tell when he gets back.

Are you in Tulsa?

We lived there for about ten years, up until 1995! Still have family there.

Great town.

You lose, you die. Have a good evening. And the next time you see a Marine thank them.

Yep, lived here since 79. I agree it is a very nice place to live. And I have lived on the East coast, the West coast and the desert Southwest.

I didn't mean to infer that there was anybody here who wasn't supporting our troops (male or female).

It would be okay by me if we decided as a nation to roll back the social-engineering and make the military all-male again. I just don't think we would get enough women to go along with us on that to make it happen.

For one reason or another, women fought like hell to earn the right to join the military. Frankly, I don't see why it was so important to them, but they achieved their goal and for better or for worse, we are forced to accept it and make the best of it.

You won't get any argument from me on that...that was one reason I was glad there weren't any women on the Recon Team (and I am a woman).

Make the women meet the same physical requirements as the men have to meet and there would be few, if any, women in the military.
