It makes me ill. The UN couldn't/didn't/wasn't willing to do anything, but now they want to get their greedy paws on the "spoils of war", robbing the Iraqi people. All the while they are totally unable to deal with N. Korea.

If I had to be on a "vital" role for the UN or a "central" role, I'm betting on "vital". (and guess who gets to decide what is "vital")

If the Bush Administration goes back to the UN, I seriously don't know what to make of them! I had some hope that maybe, at last, we could get rid of that useless body of nothings. I will be very disappointed in the whole administration if they put Americans through that whole mess again.

I also think this would alienate his base...so many of us know the UN has outlived any usefulness it ever had and had hopes that Bush was the one to send it on its way.

A good analysis must be made of just exactly what these debts are really for...
WMD precursors? for example...Bio Weapons called "tractors" or "baby milk formula"
The Rooskies are certainly not only capable of such deception but rountinely used such in the past...
And the French...well they are the consumate liars and pieces of garbage..
the UN is a gang of thugs ...to give them any say so other than food distribution would be the biggest obstacle to a democratic Iraq
It has been the UN that has propped up Iraq under Saddam Hussein in the first place..
Had we been able to take out Saddam in Gulf War 1 non of this would have been necessary and millions of Iraqis and Kurds would be alive and doing well today....
Disolve the UN now ..preferably in Acid

I think you will use even bigger letters if you read the entire article describing in detail how much involvement and $$$ are at stake by France, Germany, Russia and China.
I think we really should tell the "Axis of Greed" and the UN to go take a flying leap.
Talking about "blood for oil" -- they want the oil, while we supply the blood.

Powell's LA Times remarks don't give that impression
"The suggestion that some of my colleagues would give that now that the coalition has done all of this and liberated Iraq, thank you very much, step aside and the Security Council is now going to become responsible for everything, is incorrect. And they know it. And they were told it," Powell said.

I don't know about that bill, but there is an organization working on this, they may know more:

But why on earth go back to the UN for more useless "resolutions"?
That, in my opinion, just makes us look weak, instead of cooperative.
Don't you recall, when Bush, President of the most powerful country on earth was pleading with Cameroon, to vote with us? I think that is pathetic. We should stop doing that.
To: FairOpinion
If we do, we might as well have Ketchup Boy in the Whitehouse.
If the French and Russians get back into Iraq in any capacity they will immediately start scheming to overthrow the new Govt. and put the Baathists back in power. Those are their friends and the people they know how to work with.

I don't see why we're so surprised or dismayed at this. We let our own Congress authorize our own executive to pursue armed conflict with Iraq, not under the article of the constitution empowering the Congress to declare war, but under UN mandates and our agreements of membership therein.
This means, lawfully, that the UN retains jurisdiction of the mission. If we want to bitch about it, next time demand Congress declare war under our constitution instead of authorizing action under the UN charter.
Bah.

I thought I had heard something about some bill or another...but honestly that info escapes me. I hope if anything, if the administration does feel it needs to include the U.N., we lead them around by the nose; break their backs and force them to act like a body of responsibility and action...but I digress, I know it will never happen that way.
To: unix
Thanks for the website info. Plan to look into it.

Seems like they stand steadfast in their position. The reason for supporting the Hussein is the same reason for getting the central role in the post war Iraq.
This is disgusting. I do not know how much more I can take of this.
