1) Tough
2) The Arabs already hate us, now they know we have a President who is willing and able to kick their rears.
3) I do not believe the thrill of a couple of young men, under fire for the first time, reflects US foreign policy.

Dang. You beat me to it.

Good Grief. Expect a man to risk his life and not fly his colors--even for a moment?

Man, all the lefties know is spinspinspin! The flag in Saddam's face means exactly that: "In your face Saddam!"
It says nothing of occupation. And this author hints that we "destroyed" Baghdad. We didn't, which is kind of the point.
WAAAAAAmbulance is right!

and lastly!! Who the hell cares? The Iraqis are free today and the only ones complaining are the losers and trash of the world who complain everytime they have to get out of bed in the morning!

These people sure can muster up a lot of garbage over a few minutes of pride.

Gollyyyyyyyy Judy. Talk about tunnel-vision. The people of Iraq are waving American flags in the streets, and all you can see is an symbol of occupation.
Get over it. Be like Andy Rooney and have enough backbone to admit you were wrong and come to grips with the fact that that spinning like a top will not change that reality.

Every ex-pat Iraqi who was asked about this flag across the statue stated that they agreed with the marine (Cpl Chin), not with CNN....Go figger!

About the only good thing the
Star-Ledger has going for it is Paul Mulshine.
When they throw free copies of that rag on my front lawn, I bring it inside and put it under my cat litter boxes.

The man has been risking his life for the last three weeks. Even while he was putting the flag over Saddam's evil face he could have been shot at by a sniper. Naturally, some bizzy ditch has to carp about it. There's some cute words which adequately describe people like Peet - "You U.S. Wanker"

Hey, Judy, the Arab world hates our music, movies, and television, regarding them as decadent and satanic. Why don't you write a pointed column condemning the entertainment industry for offending Moslem sensibilities? Why don't you urge the entertainment industry to clean up its act, to stop exporting offensive American entertainment into countries where it is not appreciated?

I heard on the radio this morning (don't know if it was IMUS or the local WMAL Washington DC morning show) that the soldier who had that flag had permission to carry it. It was one recovered from the WTC and the "in your face" is exactly what they wanted to portray.
At least that's the story I head this morning about the flag.

We've got to face the fact that anti-war journalists have a very long list of things to carp about, and as the mission disappoints their expections (by succeeeding) they will just move down to the next item on the list. The carping has just begun.

There is probably a story somewhere on this, but this morning Don Wade on WLS said that this was a flag that flew over the Pentagon on 9/11. If so, sweet justice. Even if a legend, the troops had every right to do what they did. Not as occupiers, but as VICTORS.

A classic moment of liberation imagery, however, was marred by an act of overenthusiasm by U.S. troops who put an American flag on the statue's head. I guess she didn't see the same thing I did. Until the solider put up our flag, the whole thing was starting to look like an embarrasment for all there. It almost gave the impression that Saddam was indestructable. In fairness to the Iraqis, there's not much you can do with an old rope that's too short and one sledge hammer. Some Clymer wrote in another article that the crowd went quiet when he put up the American flag. His sound must have cut out because the crowd went wild when they saw it.
The Iraqi flag that came up later seems to be mostly ignored by the media.
I almost forgot. Suck on it libs. You lose.
