I guess I'm the sentimental type. I really wanted that statue to come down in a big splosion. The on scene commanders probably wanted to let the EOD guys demo it but the problem of keeping the frenzied onlookers back may have been daunting. Just as they would lit the fuse some scmuck would probably run out to be the 1st one on TV and BLAMO!! most of him would be stuck up in the trees.
