Richard Perle is a "Republican activist" and is working for the Communist Chinese in the Hutchison Whampoa buyout of Global Crossing, even though the FBI an the Pentagon has said such a merger is a threat to national security.

One small nitpick: Richard Perle is actually not a Republican - he's a registered Democrat!

Would that make him a "DINO"?

If this dupe is convicted, will it be permissible to ask about investigating the bigger fish?

You have my permission to ask about it now...

Thank you for the correction. I am elated to find out this lobbyist for Communist China is a democrat.

China Ocean Shipping Co is definitely a go! They were
turned down on the old Naval Shipyard due to security
reasons. Construction is almost complete at the old
Todd Shipyard a short distance away. There was a hold
for a short period of time due to environmental problems,
but now, it's all systems go. I understand it will be
completed within the next few months.

Here is the latest on COSCO that I was able to come up
with. If you wish, I can dig for more. Most of the
daily news has been reported by The Daily Breeze.

I do appreciate the news. If my government is going to permit a Communist Chinese shipping base in the U.S., then we really are "rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell",to quote my favorite poet. I need to fish more and read the news less. Thanks again for the eye opener.

Here's an update. (I was wondering what had happened to these scumbags)

Trial of retired FBI agent in China contact case postponed a year

By Linda Deutsch
ASSOCIATED PRESS

2:49 p.m. February 27, 2004

LOS ANGELES – The trial of a retired FBI agent charged with carrying on a love affair with an alleged Chinese double-agent was postponed for a year Friday after prosecutors said they had numerous legal issues to resolve.

U.S. District Judge Florence Marie Cooper agreed that next February was "probably much more realistic considering everything we were told."

She accepted an innocent plea from former agent James J. Smith, the target of a superseding indictment issued in the case earlier this week.

The other defendant, Katrina Leung, is scheduled for trial in September. Her attorney, Janet Levine, who attended Friday's hearing, said it was uncertain whether that trial would go forward then.

"I would like to go to trial in September," she said. But numerous pretrial hearings are scheduled for Leung as well.

The superseding indictment issued Tuesday by a federal grand jury added a charge that Smith, 59, failed to disclose his relationship with the woman. It also combined three previous wire fraud charges into one charge of mail fraud relating to reports Smith sent to headquarters about Leung's reliability. He is charged with gross negligence for allowing Leung access to classified documents.

He could faced up to 40 years in prison if convicted.

Leung, 49, is a naturalized citizen who was recruited to work for the FBI 20 years ago. She is accused of taking classified documents from Smith's briefcase to benefit a foreign nation and could face up to 14 years in prison if convicted. She has pleaded innocent.

The alleged breach has raised questions about every Chinese FBI counterintelligence investigation or operation from 1982 to 2000.

Here's another one.

This article is sketchy on details. I wonder what the entire story is (what she shipped to the chicom military, why, etc.) Sounds like some triple-agent stuff.
