I originally saw this on CNN. They had the camera at an angle so that it looked like it said "GO... Home... US". Upon closer inspection -- on Fox and MSNBC, I saw what it really said and got a good belly laugh!!!

I don't think anyone has mentioned this, yet. All of the statues and huge portraits of Saddam were very un-Islamic. Observant Muslims do not usually display pictures of people or animals because they regard such pictures as potentially idolatrous. Humans and animals are not depicted in Muslim art. Very conservative Muslims may not allow themselves to be photographed if they can help it.

More modern and moderate Muslims may be enthusiastic photographers; however, the photos typically are kept in albums and are not displayed.

Saddam's putting up huge statues and pictures of himself all over had to have been insulting to a lot of Muslims. That just isn't done in that area of the world. This is one reason (obviously not the only one or perhaps even the major one) why Iraqis are so enthusiastically destroying Saddam's image all over the place.

Looks to me like the human shields had a poster made up that said "HUMAN SHIELDS" to identify themselves so coalition forces wouldn't fire at them. When they took off and left their poster behind, these fellas added the rest "GO HOME [HUMAN SHIELDS] YOU U.S. WANKERS". My $.02.
