Here's another goodie from
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/888480/posts Arab nations on Tuesday requested a U.N. General Assembly meeting on the war in Iraq, hoping to win approval for a resolution calling for a cease-fire. The assembly's General Committee will meet Friday morning to consider the request, assembly spokesman Richard Sydenham said.

good evening folks. Just checking in and now to play catch up.
I had a thought earlier today. What if the journaists were put up in the palace? They'd be more out of the line of fire and I don't think they'd do too much complaining...and it's sure a secured area. Less likely a sniper would be shooting at OUR troops from that location.

They're real big on killing unarmed civilians.
To: amom
True enough, but they are currently the honored guests of Baghdad Bob.
Now that's a scary thought - capturing the Palestine Hotel and shipping them off somewhere. Think of the increase in Global Whining.
The media are trying to canonize their colleagues who were cannonized.

Don't know what southpaw has to do with it, though it helps to be amphibious (maybe I'll get hired to do Watkins Glen if I were a bit more amphibious).

Just getting back on after that rather exciting night last night. In regards to the sniper fire from the hotel. I just sat here and read through many, many posts. Between cracking up (you should try it some time, reading them slow you get all of the jokes), but anyways. I read through a time when we all were talking about flying bullets. Small arms fire, really close to the cameras. I do believe by our own exclusive blow by blow narration, that there was indeed a sniper at the hotel. High enough for all of us dedicated webcam viewers to say ow!! Anybody else here remember?
To: RippleFire
Oh my. Now that IS a thought. lol

But, if America offered them the hospitality and protection rather than Saddam, they would say that they would lose any claim to objectivity.

Don't remember, but methinks that's why the BagCams have no sound anymore.

None of them have sound since that shell knocked one of them off. See #3727 for the probable explanation why there's no sound.

That's why today when the US said they were returning fire, I was not surprised at all. I knew they were, we all knew. To be honest, I'm not surprised to hear the Arab press, or the Iraqis deny. They never do anything bad, they are good people. NOT!
To: amom
Less likely a sniper would be shooting at OUR troops from that location. Yeah, no need for the long-range stuff -- they could just roll hand grenades at our troops, the way their comrade-in-arms did in Kuwait!

I heard a reporter on NPR tonight (I put it on when Michael Savage goes to commercial!) talking about the 'hit' on the hotel. She said that at first they thought it was just nearby fire, then they realized it was actually their hotel -- and they figured it was 'just' an Iraqui irregular with an RPG. But when they found out it was an American 'hit' they got really upset!
Gee, why didn't they have the same reaction when they thought it was 'just' an Iraqui??? Yeah, no double standard here among these 'unbiased' 'journalists'!
