I don't think there was a sniper but I'm sure the Iraqis mixed a few spotters in with the media types. Like you said, if you have a cell phone and binoculars, it's hard to distinguish between a spotter and a "journalist".

That call to prayer stuff on the webcam is very disturbing and haunting and sad. I can't imagine living in a city with that stuff going off in the middle of an afternoon.

We're taking away their crack, trying to shut up Al-Jazeera and Abu Dhabi in their eyes. They will jihad over this, just wait to see the protests in the next few days. It will be pure mayhem. Plus Bin Laden just chimed in (supposedly) and called on everyone to jihad.

Then a minder from the Iraqi Ministry of Information made him say that there "may have been civilian casualties" - I think he's been closely watched ever since.

Nor do I - but Chater may be forced to say it! I do not know if he is the type which would "naturally" say something like this and I'm willing to give the benfit of the doubt (unless some who knows better shows he IS a bottom feeder!!)
