BUMP!!
We all need to thank those who are preserving good order and discipline, and our democracy!
I just e-mailed the Oakland PD:
Thank you for doing the right thing yesterday in taking action to keep the Oakland port open. Use of force was justified. Our national security was at stake.
Keep up the great work!

So you think it was somebody on here posting this to give FR a bad name? Now I could also deem that conspiritorial, but I also think its interesting. After all the details of this are schetchy. That can also mean that its all the more reason to FReep the police to let them know we still support them.
Its coming out now that the protestors were throwing rocks at the cops. I'd shoot them with rubber bullets in a heartbeat if this pretentious filth did that to me.
I still stick to my conspiracy, that the Union has protested too much, tipping off an agenda. I think they were INVOLVED with this gathering, given what I said in the earlier post, and they have about as much credibility as the tie died fools. We need other accounts of what happened.

I believe in the police protecting themselves. I also believe that the details are sketchy at this time. Now the circumstances of this particular protest are also different from the civil disobeidience realm in that they directly targeted the flow of military supplies. That is a factor worth consideration. I just can't knee-jerk say "cops good because they whooped on protesters" as much as the protesters irk me.

Possibly....again lots of stuff flying right now. I know the left wants martyrs for their cause so the blow up doesn;t surprise me.

As you stated before the unions are still miffed at Bush cracking down on their strike. I too noticed the "longshoreman" injuries got more play than the actual protesters, so your theory has some weight.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I'm probably going to switch to Democrate to vote for Sharpton too, but I'm not in a state where the primary matters. Unless of course, things get ugly with Al and the division goes all the way into the late primaries. We can only hope.

It is more about spreading the message to those early states with open primaries.

For a libbie, Jerry Brown is a pretty good mayor of Oakland. I wouldn't go that far.

Thanks so much for contacting them -- we have to support them for stepping up to the plate! Thanks for the phone number too.

Do you think perhaps he's gotten some common sense in his old age!! He was in dire need of some early on in life.

Sorry, but it is really impossible to feel sorry for these idiots. Hope she learned a lesson and keeps her protests away from the troop supply lines. She is just lucky it was the nice Oakland Police Department that got a hold of her and not me. DO NOT MESS WITH MY COUNTRY OR MY TROOPS!!

Real bullets sound good to me too! Better yet why don't we just load em all up on a bus and take them over to Iraq so they can spout their garbage off with that fool Minister of Information. The only one in Iraq that couldn't seem to figure out we are breathing down his neck! These protestors and that guy have a lot in common -- they are totally out of touch with reality.

Don't quite get your confusion about the post. Nothing underhanded about it. I think we should let the Oakland Police Department know that we are behind them -- those protesting on the docks were trying to stop supply shipments the troops. That goes beyond freedom of speech or freedom of assembly. We are at war -- their actions are a problem. Still confused -- what is so difficult to understand??

From what I've read Jerry Brown has brough order to Oakland, tried to implement market-based solutions to housing, and brought more discipline to the schools. For all his liberal background he seems to be governing Oakland pretty conservatively. And the wacko liberals absolutely hate the guy, so he must be doing something right.

I don't feel sorry, I think they got off easy. Some lumps, bruises and blood isn't anything compared to a local police or a federal record. Physical harm goes away, a record follows you for life.

I agree -- they got off way too easy. That will be a nice picture for the family photo album!! Explain that one to the kids in 20 years or so! (I still have photos that come back to haunt me from my youth.
