Thanks so much for writing and sharing with us this outstanding report.
The First Lady said that she and George are praying
praying for the troops, and for the President. She said that as parents, it's hard to hear criticism of their son, but as she watches George W. guide our country through this most difficult time, she cant help but wonder if this is the same kid she used to spank and tell him to clean his room! After that, she made no reference to the war.
She is a wonderful lady, alright.

You're welcome, Victoria.
She knew what was needed to lift our spirits in this time of war.........just being herself and sharing her joy of life with us!

I KNOW!
But I'm not tellin' cuz I want someone else to catch it!!!!
Kissin', "those things" (mentioned above), smiles. Good grief. Next thing I know you will be invited to Sunday Dinner.
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood grief.
I'm so jealous, AND happy for you two!!
To: ohioWfan
WOW. What a wonderful report! I especially love her words of advice and all her funny stories. It sounds like she got some great questions from the audience. You have a terrific memory to be able to get all that down in writing. I felt like I was there myself!
My favorite "Bar" story: A friend of mine met her during the campaign, when George W. was running for President against (insert name of awful person, whose name I will not mention lest I ruin this nice thread.) Anyway, Bar joked that she thought her son should win the election because "he's the handsomer candidate"! Ain't THAT the truth?! :-D
Anyway, thanks for this marvelous report!
P.S. (I HATE line-cutters!!!!!)

Carolinamom, you know one thing that impressed me in the book was from the day Barbara met George, she loved him so completely, and it has never stopped !
I had parents like that. They loved us and were great parents, but boy, they loved one another first. I always heard that the best gift a Father can give his children is to love their Mother. I was blessed like that.
Reading the book, I see a couple like that. Barbara and George. It is something when you read that book and then look at the children. All different, but raised by parents who loved each other. That example is a wonderful gift to the children. They didn't have to "try"...it is/was as natural as "breathing ".
And that...comes but once in a lifetime.

Thanks, Nea!
Actually, I don't have that great of a memory......I took notes! But the problem was that I wanted to watch her the whole time and not look down because she's completely captivating, so some of my words are completely illegible!
btw, I love your Barbara Bush story! Of course she's not exactly objective about her son's looks......but she's right! :o)

Well, I'm not so sure that you shouldn't say
anything about clothing FoxGirl! We certainly have set limits with our daughter's clothes, and she has no choice about abiding by them! If she wants a place to live and food to eat, she dresses modestly! :o) Fortunately, those arguments ended a while ago.
It was pretty funny coming from Barbara, though........especially since she's known in the family as "The Enforcer!"

It is so sad that President Bush will not receive credit for engaging the most heinous foe to freedom that there has ever been. The war in Baghdad has been prosecuted under a microscope, yet has been a brilliant success. I have been so proud of him in every respect, doing the hardest job ever, in the best possible way.
Almost every policy that I have disagreed with has been due to my pettiness, spitefulness or immaturity. Attention to illegal immigration has been his lone weak point. Unfortunately, he has come very close to crossing "the line" with many of us who live on the border.
It really is great to have a President that one can respect. Especially after the eight year drought before the rain. Click HERE to see a few pics from our FReeper outing to support our troops.
