Illbay, although many Christians believe as you do, that Allah and God are the same, I respectfully submit this article for your consideration. Is Allah the God of the Bible?

An excerpt:

On several occasions we have called attention to the fact that Allah is not the God of the Bible. It has always provoked challenges from well meaning folks who may have relatives or friends involved in Islam. We've responded with documentation from acknowledged experts on Islam. We are concerned by the fact that there are Christian educators and others presenting seminars in churches on how to reach Muslims for Christ but who, sadly, are espousing the position that Allah is the God of the Bible. It is important to witness to Muslims but not at the expense of mixing light with darkness.

To help clarify this issue, we're including the following well-researched material to supply you with further documentation of this fact. They are excerpts from Is Allah of the Qur'an the True Universal God of the Bible? by Dr. Robert A. Morey, and are used by his permission (pages 9- 13). We hope that you will share this material with others and save it for future reference.

Documentation Dr. Morey writes, "Islam is a modern version of one of the ancient fertility cults. The "Allah" of the Qur'an is not the same as the God of the Bible, and the religion of Abraham is not derived from paganism." The following citations reveal that there is a general consensus among Islamic scholars that Allah was a pagan deity before Islam developed. He was only one god among a pantheon of 360 gods worshipped by the Arabs.

"The word Allah was derived from 'al-ilah' which had become a generic title for whatever god was considered the highest god. Each Arab tribe used Allah to refer to its own particular high god. This is why Hubal, the Moon god was the central focus of prayer at the Kaa'ba and the people prayed to Hubal using the name Allah." Historians like Vaqqidi have said Allah was actually the chief of the 360 gods being worshipped in Arabia at the time Mohammed rose to prominence.

Ibn Al-Kabi gave 27 names of pre-Islamic deities. Interestingly, not many Muslims want to accept that Allah was already being worshipped at the Kaa'ba in Mecca by Arab pagans before Mohammed came. Some Muslims become angry when they are confronted with this fact. But history is not on their side. Pre- Islamic literature has proven this. (G.J.O. Moshay, Who Is This Allah? Dorchester House, Buks, UK, 1994, p 138)

Islam also owes the term "Allah" to the heathen Arabs. We have evidence that it entered into numerous personal names in Northern Arabia and among the Nabateans. It occurred among the Arabs of later times, in theophorous names and on its own. (Ibn Warraq. Why I Am Not A Muslim, Prometheus, Amherst, 1995, p 42)

Please read the complete article by clicking link above. A thoughtful article and one which might clarify your position on Allah and God being the same entity. I'm sure the prophets of Baal thought they were worshipping the true God, too, but they were practicing a false religion. I Kings 18:21 "Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him."

One of those times when you can actually believe the words: "I represent the U.S. Government and I'm here to help you."
