I've always heard that the "thumbs up" sign is considered obscene over there. Beats me. I read the link provided in response to your question, and got an education myself!
I do know the "okay" sign in Brazil is hand-signal for eff-you.

CNN's Nic Robertson, reporting from Jordan, said that the neighborhoods near Baghdad International Airport were being cleared out by the Republican Guard 1) How does he know this from Jordan, and
2) I thought we controlled a perimeter that went beyond the confines of the airport.
To: Fitzcarraldo
Robertson was one of the reporters kicked out of Baghdad shortly after the war started. He referred to his sources in Iraq when he was reporting the story.
I have no idea of what kind of perimeter was set up around the airport. Robertson referred to suburbs near the airport. Where they're located, I have no idea, but I would assume they'd be somewhere between the airport and the center of Baghdad, a distance of around 10-12 miles.

My only skepticism is whether the people were being moved out of their homes. It would make our bombing of the area harder if they had human shields. I don't believe this....when did they start caring about killing anybody, much less their own?

...Seminole Tribal Flag.
No link, and may be old news here. I didn't know we had a helo down.
CENTCOM says the Super Cobra that crashed earlier today, killing both marines on board, was not brought down by hostile fire.

Top of the stack rotation. Just like a Top 40 radio station. Couple times an hour.

What would it take for me to be welcoming an armed force from another country with open arms and tears of relief and joy? I shudder to think. The Hillary! Decade...

Lt. Gen. Michael Mosel
ey
Funny though, the expression "softening them up" is being said by SOD Rummy, Gen. Myers, Gen. Franks, I think. Perhaps they'll stop saying it now that Lt. Gen. Moseley has told them off. (^:

tis okay for tardy reply, but only because this thread now has over 3,000 posts, lol! I read enough other postings to figure out most of what happened....reporters are cruel and inflict their cruelty without concern. They disgust me (except for FOX, of course.)

I don't believe they'd move people out of their homes, either (well, unless it was a predominately Sunni area or a Ba'ath party area, and, well, not even then). It'd prevent us from bombing a residential area when there are troops intermingled with them.
I'd bet we can see what they're doing from our eye(s) in the sky and our ears on the ground.

As often as MS-NBC showed Bob's firefight. I wonder if the DOD should have made the video of all these embeds pool?
