Boom! There goes the car alarm!
What moron can't figure out they need to turn that off? The same moron who can't figure it out at a fireworks display I guess.

>Parachute Flare. They will hang in the air for quite a while.
>>Don't think so. It wasn't all that bright and it moved back and forth a considerable distance. It also seemed to go up as well as down.
If a camera
pans down while a chute flare falls,
it makes it appear
to hover. Also,
filmed against a night background,
small camera pans
can make a chute flare
appear to fly "back and forth."
Simple UFOs...

We may find out if Sleepy-head is sleepy in a few hours when he makes his report.

Sorry, don't mean to ignore you, my computer keeps crashing. I was looking for the threads where CGEB got called out but can't find them. Maybe someone will post them eventually. All I know is I hated that colored font with the heat of a thousand suns and tried my damndest to avoid it whenever possible. The less I say, the better ;)

Are the Iraqis trying to blind the light sensitive cameras? I wouldn't put it past them.

CNN's reporting heavy shelling to the EAST of Baghdad -- that means the camera's facing east. Whoa, big boom! Camera does face generally east...unless the sun comes up from another direction in that part of the world. :) I think the explosions are a bit north of east from the camera location, wherever that might be exactly. I think east is just to the right of that mosque, or what appears to be a mosque.

The object was moving realtive to objects in the image, not just within the image. I know all about UFO effects due to the camera moving, and while you could see that sort of thing, the object was definitely moving, and was farther away than any structures visible as the camera panned after it. A couple of times they lost the object behind some large office or apartment buildings and had to pull back (reduce the power of the telephoto lens) to re-aquire the object. Finally they lost it altogether. It also appeared to be behind the smoke or fog also kinda/sorta visible at times.

There are two lights one more distant than the other and are being used to blind the feed cams. Iraqis are trying to hide whats happening.

Shock And Awe!Thomas pamphlet credited for lack of Iraqi resistance as U.S Forces roll into Baghdad
 |
CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar (LNS) - CentCom is reporting that the reason for the surprising lack of resistance around Baghdad is due to the air drop of several thousand Helen Thomas pamphlets designed to convince Iraq's Republican Guard to surrender. Air Force Maj. Gen. Gary Horner, in an early morning press conference, revealed what he called "America's Most Dangerous Weapon." "We have nicknamed this 'The Great Grandmother of All Pamphlets,'" Horner said. "We deliberated long and hard about the option of using this, but in the end, it was decided that it would ultimately save lives. The psychological damage to the Iraqi troops was just a price we were willing to pay." American Forces were instructed not to look at the pamphlets under any circumstances. "Admittedly, the one big worry we had was that the wind would shift and our forces would be contaminated." said Horner. "It was a chance we had to take." The Arab world immediately condemned the action, some saying the U.S. had actually acquired a picture of the Great Satan, himself. Al Jazeera ran a full page article on the pamphlet, but would only show a small portion of the photo. Even so, sources say that the Muslim World has been shaken to the very foundations. In an amazing development, the nation of Syria has even announced that it will not resist coalition forces if they wish to occupy Damascus, lamenting that, "Allah has forsaken us." |
President Bush took a more historical view in his praising comments about the coalition's use of the pamphlet: "If only President Truman had known about this, the World may have never known the fear of nuclear weapons." Thomas was born in Kentucky in 1848. -DL
