I think the best response to Europwimps wanting in on the post Iraq gravy train and a UN role would be to tell the story of Little Red Hen: the one about 'who will help me plant the seeds' no one -- who will help me water -- who will help me harvest - who will help me grid the wheat -- who will help me bake -- in all the cases no one will help. then 'who will help me eat the bread' and all of them want in at the trough. And the little red hen says no.

Doesn't surprise us that once the heavy-lifting is done, everyone
demands a piece of the pie.
I hope Powell continues in this vein and doesn't succumb to the whiny "used to be" close allies. But...I'm not holding my breath.

Demands?
You and WHOSE army?
Gee ... I wonder which nations in the EU and Nato are actually making the demands. It says "near unanimous" ... but I wonder which nation is leading the demands. Any guesses out there? Anyone?

Only our little red hens carry M-16s...

Powell has had his utopianism shattered before his very eyes by his beloved international community. I hope it sticks with him.

They may want a piece of the pie,but you can be sure they'll want us to pay for the entire bakery.

There is NO WAY the Germans,French or Belgians should have any say in who administers Iraq prior to free Iraqi elections.
The vile anti-American, anti-Brit that came out of the mouths of leaders at the highest levels of their countries government and the horrendous propaganda their leaders and citizens proliferated onto the world's conscious should preclude them from this important responsibility. We wouldn't want the Iraqi's just freed to catch what they have as it might be contagious.

France government workers went on a one-day strike yesterday over proposed "retirment reforms"; unemployment, when I last checked, was 9.5%; Germany unemployment at 11.1%
Germany to suffer extensively when German cars are abandoned by American consumers.

The little Red Hen was in the farmyard with her chickens, when she found a grain of wheat. ``Who will plant this wheat?'' she said.
``Not I,'' said the Goose.
``Not I,'' said the Duck.
``I will, then,'' said the little Red Hen, and she planted the grain of wheat.
When the wheat was ripe she said, ``Who will take this wheat to the mill?''
``Not I,'' said the Goose.
``Not I,'' said the Duck.
``I will, then,'' said the little Red Hen, and she took the wheat to the mill.
When she brought the flour home she said, ``Who will make some bread with this flour?''
``Not I,'' said the Goose.
``Not I,'' said the Duck.
``I will, then,'' said the little Red Hen
When the bread was baked, she said, ``Who will eat this bread?''
``I will,'' said the Goose
``I will,'' said the Duck
``No, you won't,'' said the little Red Hen. ``I shall eat it myself. Cluck! cluck!'' And she called her chickens to help her.

If we have any brains and balls at all, we'll be getting heating oil for $.55 a gallon, while Frenchy is wandering around in the cold looking for firewood.

Did anyone else notice that within this article, nothing is quoted from the French, Germans or Belgians? Did they really think we'd forget so soon? The UN, along with the cabal of Arabs got the UN to brand the Israeli's as "racist", they allowed the wholesale slaughter of almost 2 million Rwandans and for some reason they seem to think they are a "responsible" body?
