Ok, since I live in the area of Burlingame and am close to Palo Alto - I am off to the store to cover both cities with as many yellow ribbons as I can afford. Hope others will follow suit!

I think citizens should have the right to tie the yellow ribbons on public property == we foot the bill for all of it, don't we? But I associate yellow ribbons with the Americans held hostage in Iran, the ones who were freed when Reagan was elected, so the yellow, to me, refers to 'victims'. And our military are making victims -- the Iraqi regime and military -- they are not themselves 'victims'. I guess I'd prefer red/white/blue ribbons. But it doesn't really matter because citizens have a right to show their support for our troops however they want.
