Nothing new and read by his Info Minister. This guy is dead, or in a hospital somewhere.

Looks like this little staged event undid all the damage Peter Arnett did yesterday.
At least now the people know Saddam is dead.

It seems that the stock market thinks he's dead too. From the Excite Money and Investing page:
War News Seen Giving Stocks a Lift
...Saddam Hussein said in a message to the Iraqi people that jihad (holy war) was a religious duty. But Saddam's message was read out on state television by Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, prompting some investors to buy on bets that the Iraqi president was not around.

Thank you all tonight for tuning in to this LIVE broadcast to watch ME your ruler Saddam. Praise be to Allah, but you can see that news of my death have been greatly exaggerated! To prove it to you, today is April first but this is not April fool! I don`t allow such foolish American traditions in Iraq! praise be to Allah! George Bush the evil, has started rumors of my death to upset my subjects, but here I am for all you to see that I am very much alive! ALIVE! To prove it to you some more, my good friend Peter Arnett and I talked yesterday and I was very angry that he was fired for supporting my regime! There is your proof! How would I know such things if I were dead? Hmmmm?? Praise be to Allah!

My lady and I were laughing our heads off when Saddam himself was reading his last statement about a week ago--everything was "glorious" and all he could say to his troops was "hit them in the neck" over, and over, and OVER again!!
LOL!!!!!

Arabs lost their grip on reality about 800 years ago.
