The White House said Monday its road map for setting up a Palestinian state by the end of 2005 is not negotiable and that Israel must "play its part" to pave the way. No matter what Israel does short of self-destruct will not please anyone. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't.

WHAT THE HELL:
IF RICE SAYS:
"also called on all Arab governments to recognize Israel's right to exist and said democratic reforms within the Palestinian Authority were "extremely important." "
WHY IS THE US GOVERNMENT SAYING THIS. SHOULDN'T WE WAIT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN FIRST BEFORE WE GIVE THE PALESTINIANS A STATE? OR IS SECURITY FOR ISRAEL A SECOND PRIORITY.
GIVE ME A BREAK.

I hear ya. I support Bush in this war effort but if he makes Israel roll over and play dead that's gonna really lose me.

The Bush Administration is rushing to appease every Arab that they can find. As always, the Jews are going to die.

We can't force Israel to do anything. I suspect this is window dressing for the Arab 'street' while we're at war. This 'road map' will be blown to kingdom come when the new pali makes no effort to confront Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad. If he even tries to control the Al-aqsa brigade.
A non-starter as long as the palis wish for death rather than a state.

I hear ya. I support Bush in this war effort but if he makes Israel roll over and play dead that's gonna really lose me. That is not what the President has said. He says that the terrorism perpetrated by the Arabs must stop, and that the Arab nations must recognize Israel's right to exist. Following these prerequisites, Israel must pull out the outer-area settlements, something Sharon has already agreed to, if I'm not mistaken.
So, what's the problem here?

The Jews gave up 78% of the Transjordan in 1922, all of the land East of the Jordan, to be a palestinian homeland. It is now being occupied the the Hashemites and the Jordanian Monarchy.
Why should Israel give up another grain of sand?

Exactly. Even if Israel stopped their settlements and moved everyone back into Israel proper, Can you imagine the Pali's and other Arabs would stand to have Arabs/Pali's booted out of Israel in return? I'm sure. The Palestinians seem unwilling to settle for anything but the annihilation of the Jews.

Israel was created in 1948... Prior to that, I believe the British were in charge. So, how did the Jews give up 78% of the Transjordan before Israel was even created?

The Arab-Islamofacists learned from their Nazi masters well. Goebbels always said tell a lie long enough and it will become the truth. There are no Palestinians, so why should they have their own country. Now if you would like the Jordanians who live in Israel to have country of their own send them to Jordan.
I cannot believe that the Administration and the Israeli goverment are doing this!! You would think they would know that the violence will not stop until one of two things happen:
1) All violent Arabs/Jordanians/Egyptians/Syrian Islamofacist are killed or deported from Israel.
2) Israel is destroyed as a Nation. Driven into the sea which is what the "Palestinians" really want.
The Jews must really Gods chosen people...they sure are persecuted enough!!

But why is he talking about a Palestinian state by 2005 if the Arab terrorist states haven't done what you say they must?

Why should Israel give up another grain of sand? Because, Israel is building NEW settlements on existing lands occupied by the Arab "refugees" who call themselves "Palestinians". What's the alternative, short of killing them all or forcing them into Jordan and Egypt?

President Bush is a best friend to Israel Let's hope you're right and the stuff in this article is, as johnb838 said in post #9, window dressing to prove laster on that the Arabs are not willing to compromise.
