"They told me they wanted to go to America after the war. I said where. They said California. I said why? They said the song Hotel California and they left singing Hotel California."

How funny! And this, friends, is the sum total of why the Europeans hate us so much: American culture is ubiquitous, and such as the Frogs--who consider their own culture the non pareil--can't stand it.

My wife is from Morocco. In the middle-east, the offering of food is a cultural practice which is meant to communicate "we consider ourselves honor-bound to protect you." A good sign.

Look at what Clinton could have meant to Iraqi's if he had held Saddam accountable. A freed Iraq will tell the world the truth very soon.

For God's sake, I wished they would stop giving the Federal Government any ideas......

Oh, oh. Leftist Don Henley is going to be mad about this. :)

Take that New York Times and France!

Slight irony here, the story is attributed to reporting by AFP, and AFP IS the French Press Agency :)

Wonderful! Making me hungry for supper! (I just hope that some of the Fetid-een don't provide poisoned food, now that we're used to receiving their succulent Middleastern victuals.)

These people probably have very little food of their own to spare. That they shared it is a moving testimony. But it raises a big question, too - *why* aren't we properly provisioning our men?

Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!

I wonder if they were sending us a message.

"Towns and villages are virtually deserted, prompting speculation that most had shifted to safer ground before the fighting began."

Um, if this is even close to true, we should not worry about civilian losses when we go after Iraqi forces in urban areas. Perhaps the civilians know the plan is to fight in such places, and have already made it out of dodge?

This is very sweet and I don't wish to be too cynical but they should be very careful about taking food from strangers.
