I will repeat yet again, that I just can't imagine how the perps could be so stupid to gather in such numbers in one building, precisely because certainly in Basra there are Allied agents or assets in place all over the city, and thus their movements are known. You need to spread out, and be very near human shields or structures immune from attack such as a Mosque at all times. Any time that strategy is abandoned, the premium to underwrite your life insurance goes way, way up.

"Fox reporting Reuters office nearby damaged."

That's in Baghdad. This article is about Basra.

They are thinking (speculating) that a concrete (non-explosive) bomb was used on the recent attack in Baghdad. Knocked all the satellite dishes off the building without blowing up.

That convoy did not exist. Another bum story. There was some movement of Republican Guard troops around Bagdad, but nobody was going very far. So far, the perps have not acted in a very stupid way at all IMO.

True, but how are they going to "spin" it into us not bombing the building though? LOL Boiler explosion? LOL

Unfortunate reaction after a dinner of Fava Beans and Falafel?

Was this the "target of opportunity" they were talking about earlier?

That certainly fits the bill. Our forces have the enemy pinned down to relative small areas. Anytime the enemy tries to move or make adjustments we can pick it up and dial in an air attack. Owning the air is a beautiful thing.

What about the one from Basra that the Brits were tracking?

Repeating your position doesn't help. Face the good news squarely. Try to be more brave (grin).

Hey, I know it's difficult (but, trust me: it's actually kind of fun).

"Normally I'd agree but the Iraqi military has a history of really dumb moves. BTW, whatever happened with that 1000-vehicle convoy heading south from Baghdad? Heard about it constantly for a day, then nothing. "

They were not heading south. It was just the RG shifting/making adjustments.

Now, tell me what happened to the three large cargo ships that were going in circles out in the Indian Ocean?

That seems to be valid. That was about 10-20 vehicles wasn't it? Just why they attempted that is unclear. Maybe it was some of the top perps trying to bail, and get to Iran or something.

I don't know about you, but that story seemed ludicrous from the get-go. By the way, the format of FR is tracking what is going on in this war is a mess. There needs to be a separate section for hard Iraq news threads. What we have now is more of a confusing cacaphony. Some of this reflects the overall confusion in general, but some of it is the FR format unfortunately.

If true, I was just speculating on how we could of found out about the meeting.

The fact that it was a laser guided bomb means someone was on the ground lighting up the target. This is very good news, it means that spec ops are operating in Basra. This is the best way to kill the paramilitary, sick the spec ops guys on them.

With communications cut, that kinda brings 'em together for group counseling, given the nature of the invitation.

The famous last words in the building, were recorded:

"Who called this meeting?"
