"a four-year veteran "
Since when does 4 years make anyone a veteran? Only in California.

Does this really count as news?? You had to read The Chronicle's coverage. It was as if written by the demonstrators themselves! Oh yeah, it was.

I dont agree with this punishment.
Everybody knows that the SF Chronicle is a commie rag, so whats the big deal if one of the commie reporters gets arrested in a peace protest?
If he had been working for the Washington Times or the Orange County Register, then he should be fired.
Otherwise, this is unjust punishment and stinks to high heaven.
Many leftist reporters have said that they advance their cause better by writing propaganda than by going into peace marches, so that could be the only reason to explain this unfair treatment of a colleague.
Maybe they thought that he should have written anti-war columns instead of getting arrested; hes being punished for ineffectiveness.

Balanced reporting, ay?

He just got in trouble because he made his views apparent. As a liberal journalist, it's supposed to be hidden in the stories. Sheesh -- doesn't he know that?
They don't care if there's a conflict of interest, as long as there's no appearance of conflict of interest.
