Gridley. His name was Gridley---the Captain on board the Olympia when Adm. Dewey gave the command to destroy the Spanish fleet. I know, because I watched Bugs Bunny!

"You could load 3-4 of these in a Galaxy and put thim on a desert airstrip!" Yup. Isn't that the same program where they mentioned experimenting with plastic tanks?

Haven't the Soviets learned anything. They keep tryin...
but they can never quite get it down. Dealing from the bottom of the deck only gets you in trouble. They wanna fight with the big boys, but are too chicken sh*t to come out and fight like a man. Frozen ball syndrome

Thanks for the link.......but. I want unadulterated information, and this seems hardly useful. However, it does offer a different perspective. I'll check it every day to see how the "capitalistic pigs" are being crushed and then check CENTCOMM for the other side and go to bed and sleep soundly knowing that things are neither as bad as some see them nor as good as others see them. In other words, NORMAL.

Yah, that's what I said, or meant to say. Plastic/ceramic. Is there really a difference? I guess there is. So it was plastic. (I am still locked into the GM "ceramic engine" experiment).

Guys i dont think the brits expected anyone to be impressed.
I saw the brit commander interviewed afterwards
He basically said he was puzzled as to wtf they were doing as it was suicide.
Same for the 120 that headed se, only to get the tender affections of Royal navy harriers and US gunships.
Apparently they have taken over radio and cut off the tv.
Is there no way to force our transmissions onto bagdhad? it would make a huge psychological difference if we could ruin there morale by making them watch crappy carry on films ;p

I want to find out what's going on, objectively. Unfortunately for those worried about what's going on, there are no public reports from active engagements.
There was a series of short movies shown in theaters for years after WW II called "The Big Picture." Later they were shown on TV. It is impossible for most of those participating in various battles to see how it all fits together. You might know this forest, that beach, a river crossing, a Pacific island, but what is happening on another front would be a world away. It won't be until this is over that most things come out, and some things won't come out for years. Tactical techniques and weapons could be censored for a long time until it just isn't important to anyone but historians.

Our news networks have it SOOO wrong. Instead of "Iraqi column heads north from Basra" the appropriate wording would be "Iraqi targets flee Basra attempting to escape sure destruction."

>>...Are you all having a tough time getting real news like I am?...<<
YES!
I work during the day, don't have cable so I'm stuck with ABC, CBS, PBS and some Spanish channel.
NOTHING on the war.
Hell, ABC is showing mens freaking FIGURE SKATING.
HEY, THERE'S A WAR ON...GIVE US SOME NEWS!!!

Um, those are self propelled 155mm howitzers, not Challengers.

LOL! It helps to watch Bugs Bunny when dealing with these maroons in Iraq.

In other news Canada's PM Jean Cretin announced his intention to upgrade Canada's armor corps from the currently aging Leopard 1's to new T-55's.....

You are already getting your news the best possible way by lurking Free Republic.
The "Breaking News" forum keeps you informed of the latest news. Plus there are members of FR who are experts that offer their analysis. Frankly FR is far more informative then ABC, CBS and especially PBS.

ABC is showing mens freaking FIGURE SKATING. HEY, THERE'S A WAR ON...GIVE US SOME NEWS!!!Count yourself lucky. Whatever you do, do not turn your set to CNN. CNN broadcasts a special signal that triggers a powerful electormagentic force to draw heavy objects at high velocity into your television screen. You will have to buy a new one.
I am listening to WMAL ABC radio. Some woman just called up to describe how depressed she is by this whole war. This war is depressing. I never realized that their are SOOOOOO many stupid people who have access to sophisticated means of communications. We are seeing the downside of the information age. My ignorance was complete total absolute bliss.

3rd Infantry Division museum at Ft. Stewart, GA has a great captured Iraqi T-72 tank on display inside the "Desert Storm" wing. It was captured by the 24th Infantry division which later was reflagged as the 3rd.
