This is the kind of bullsh*t Canadians are fed from the liberal Toronto Star, the mouthpiece of the Liberal Party.

We should move the UN to Cananda. Then withdraw from most or all councils.

Interesting indeed how tethering foreign policy to the UN is asserted to be 'independence'.
Just another piece of Left agitprop garbage. But as long as they've got themselves convinced they're winning, all the better for us.

"The U.N. could have disarmed Saddam within months, without loss of life. Instead, we have a "pre-emptive" attack of dubious lawfulness, and an anarchic precedent."
Ummm, the UN had 12 years to disarm Saddam.

The retort from Tampa Florida.
Canadians are a locus plague here!
The Canadians have allways been closet socialist and in the past several decades they have been climbing out.
They have made there money leaching off the US economy and then hold up their socialist medical system as what the US needs. Yea, we want to wait months and months for treatment and that only when the hospitals are open.
I would not mind if they installed a 20' electric fence across the border, but the must take Detroit with them!

Liberals suck, I am still counting on the good people of Canada to fire their liberals and put them all on welfare, the same thing everyone in America should be doing.

We've earmarked $10 billion to bolster our military and anti-terror defences, rather than cut taxes or feed more poor kids. So, I can't resist asking the question: What is that American? Aboot $950?
The article bleeds liberal bias.
I love my conservative Canadian friends, but their government has made themselves into our enemy, and the friend of those who hate America and all she stands for.

The U.N. could have disarmed Saddam within months, without loss of life.I read this as a legitimate OpEd up until this point. Can't quite understand the support the UN continues to receive after performing so abysmally in Iraq. We gave Tony his shot and it didn't work, ergo "Iraqi Freedom". Now our liberal Canadian neighbors will just have to get over it (notice I didn't say "ALL" Canadians, just the liberal ones).

Being in the oil industry, I am much more familiar with the Canadians of the western Provinces, particularly Alberta. Frankly, if it were not for the Socialists of the Vancouver area, I would love to see the Canadian provinces west of Ontario opt out of the "Dominion" and hold a referendum on joining the United States.

I agree that Canada used to be there when the going got tough. From stalwart to sissy in one generation!

The U.N. could have disarmed Saddam within months, without loss of life.Does he mean the same UN that couldn't do it in 12 years? Hussein was not going to give up his weapons without fight, a military fight.

"Frankly, if it were not for the Socialists of the Vancouver area, I would love to see the Canadian provinces west of Ontario opt out of the 'Dominion' and hold a referendum on joining the United States."Ah, let Vancouver in. Portland is filled with outright Communists, but no one's talking about kicking Oregon out of the Union... yet. Heck, at least they'll let you pump your own gasoline in Canada.

albertabound,
What we need in the world right now is the Canada that once stood for something.
That Canada was represented by this flag:
If I was Canadian, right now, I would be flying this flag from my front porch, not the Maple Leaf.
