Mahi-mahi is from the dolphin fish, not the "dolphin" an air breating mine and explosive seeking one.

Besides, when you finish with them their pretty tasty too!

Not quite as tasty as spotted owl done on a charcoal grill with a little snail darter sauce on the side. :)

the dolphins have the freedom to swim away

Since they don't leave, they must be VOLUNTEERS!

THE PETA AND U.N. HYPOCRITES CAN GO BACK TO HELL IN A HAND CART!

K-Dog a Bottle Nose Dolphin belonging to Commander Task Unit (CTU-55.4.3) leaps out of the water in front of Sergeant Andrew Garrett while training near the USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) operating in the Arabian Gulf, March 18, 2003. This is a multinational team consisting of Naval Special Clearance Team-One, Fleet Diving Unit Three from the United Kingdom, Clearance Dive Team from Australia, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Units Six and Eight. These units are conducting deep/shallow water mine counter measure operations to clear shipping lanes for humanitarian relief. REUTERS/U.S. Navy

Reminds me of an old commercial parody that Rush used to play on his show: WeemsCo Tuna. Contains that good 'ol dolphin taste! There was a line in it which went something like "Unlike other tuna companies that drop their drawers for every animal rights activist group, we here at WeemsCo told them: "Take a hike!"

A friend writes:

Hey, OMIW, heard you're not going getting called up because you're still on training status. Well, as I expected, my unit got called up. My rating was made permanent. I'm a DV (Navy Diver) 3. I was hoping to strike for Master at Arms, to try something a little different. But with my background, they thought I was best suited for this kind of work.

Anyway, I can't complain. I figured the U.S. Navy was my one chance to get out of the Carribean, and I'm going to take full advantage of that chance. I had to get used to the kind of fish they serve, and had to pull a few midwatches. But my unit is a good bunch of folks, and we are the leading unit at finding mines.

The only thing that bothers me is hearing about these peace protesters. I understand some people think I shouldn't be in the Navy because I happen to be of a different species. Come on people! This is 2003! That kind of discrimination is simply ugly.

These PETA people say they care about other species, and say I don't have a stake in war. Well, excuse me, have they considered I care about other species too? If guys like Saddam Hussein start getting nuclear weapons, your species would go on the endangered list.

I would hate to see that. We all have our own causes, and I happen to like humans and want to work to preserve that species. It's so much fun to watch them run around on land. I wish I could do that sometimes. Plus they are so intelligent! I sometimes think they are almost as smart as we are.

Anyway, sorry you didn't get to come over this time, but maybe I'll be seeing you in Korea next year? Have a great Navy Day!

Regards,

DV3 Danny the Dolphin

I was waiting for this lunacy. Now that it's happened I will give them the attention they deserve.

Buh bye.
