'Tis about the only kind of war they can fight effectively (<expletive deleted> you CNN/NBC/CBS/ABC/Sky/BBC, for helping them).
Thanks for pointing out the Ralph Peters article.

I hadn't seen this on this thread yet.
In northern Iraq, scores of American military personnel landed in Kurdish territory, as the move to open a northern front gathered strength.
The BBC reported fighting between Kurdish troops, with American support, and the Iraqi army in northern Iraq just south of the city of Irbil, about 300 km from Baghdad.

well i hope you are right but lets look at it this way.
if it takes another month and it means we spare our troops then i say to Gen Franks -- take as long as you want. Lets not get all touchy about downed choppers and POW's. Can you imagine looking after those guys. YOU know in a few weeks you are going to have a very very pissed of marines division just looking for YOU!
The war is on track, we aint seeing nothing. Iremember GW1 and at the beginning the same crap was put up by the media over the pilots. What we need to keep thinking is about the things you aint hearing about....for instance Anyone see any Iraqi dead? gee, maybe we aint killed any yet (NOT), or perhaps we are playing a much better long term game then the short termism of the Iraqis...

BeebDweeb pounding on the guerilla tactics talking point of the day. Embedded Beeber saying that Iraqis engaged in tactics in violation of conventional warfare.

I just read your post. The BBC gave Iraqi torturers personal info on POWs...I'm speechless.

I heard about the troop landings yesterday although TV commentator was saying they were around Kirkuk--I think he was wrong on that.
Arbil looks to be just north of Kirkuk.

Good morning. Catching up on this thread is almost an impossibility if sleep is an option, so I hope I'm not being redundant. Just heard on the way into the office that a Jerusalem Post writer claims the chemical weapons facility is just that and evidence exists of recent use.
To: TomGuy
Channel surfing yesterday morning, I ran across Abrems (?) [ABC ?] interviewing a terrorist expert. The expert said Saddam has hired PR firms to advise him in making him look good to the world. Abrems laughed it off, but propaganda is an essential part of war--on both sides.I saw the interview. Dan Abrams was interviewing Whalid Fares, who IS an expert on the Middle East. Abrams seemed more than skeptical that Saddam would use French PR fims to advise him about whether he should use bio/chem weapons.
It's too bad that it didn't dawn on Abrams that he's a little punk talking head and Fares is the expert.

I heard the same. They mentioned two areas of fighting, and specifically the Al-Ansar(?) Jihadists (supposedly linked with Al-Queda).

BeebDweeb, lol! Maybe time w/ the troops and FoxNews will wake 'em up.
Thread summary - our Marines had a good night taking out bad guys, an Apache's down still in one piece - pilot's missing?, US troops fortifying the north, Carny hurt himself snorting beer. Did I miss anything?

Jerusalem Post writer claims the chemical weapons facility is just that and evidence exists of recent use.Good news if true, but I'd like to see it from another source as J. Post was the one that originally broke the story.
Keeping fingers crossed.
