It's not permissible to express the opinion that she was stupid for protecting terrorists.
Why would anyone in America have the right to express that, especially at a public university?

[The Diamondback has] damaged me by publishing something as distasteful as this. Pardon my ignorance, but exactly HOW was she damaged by this publication? Did the cartoon make her go blind? Or did it make her laugh against her will and cause guilt?

I heard a blurb on the radio this morning about some peace group observing a minute of silence for Rachel Corrie. I visualized people closing their eyes for 2-3 seconds, then bursting out laughing.
Sort of like when Mary Tyler Moore attended the funeral of Peanut, the clown who was dressed like a peanut and got trampled by an elephant. She tried her best to keep the laughter in, but lost.

ok, how was the cartoon racist? It was not politically correct. Had it collectively portrayed southerners as Klansmen, Catholics as child molesters, or pro-lifers as serial killers, it would have been OK and recieved 1st Amendment support lectures from the university staff.
