``They are a gang of war criminals ... international bastards,'' he said. "International Bastards" would be a good name for a rock group.

You could listen to them while eating the new Subway sandwich, Saddam on a stretcher.

To paraphrase Bruce Campbell, Saddam is in control of just two things right now - Jack and shit - and Jack left town.

Well, if the persistant rumors are true that Saddamn and his spawn are dead; then the only reason for this charade is to give his thugs time to get out of Dodge, er Baghdad, and avoid becoming a head on a stick courtesy of an angry Iraqi mob.
I dunno. Time will tell.

Just think how bad things would be if they weren't in charge.

Saddam is:
Dead;
Badly injured;
Shaking like a baby bunny rabbit and drooling;
Alive and plotting the most ridiculous military strategy since the Maginot Line;
On Priceline.com trying to get the best airfare to "Anywhere".

Iraqi state television - in an effort to show that the regime is firmly in control - showed what it said was footage of Saddam chairing meetings Saturday with senior government ministers and with his son Qusai.

Strong explosions shook the Iraqi capital after sunset Saturday, the latest in the daily dose of aerial bombardment by U.S.-led forces. The Iraqi regime asserted battle successes and maintained Saddam Hussein and his sons had ``the aggression'' in hand. This is exactly why we have left the broadcasting facilities intact. It's the Shock and Awe version of "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

Since John has 2cents, I'd like to put in my 3.
I do think Saddam is dead - as are his two sons; along with Aziz and some others. This is just my opinion.
What's to say that one of the members of Saddam's inner circle has decided to take advantage of the situation and take over ...?? If that's the case, then he can assert Saddam is alive - because that controls the people and keeps the military fighting. If he can pull this off long enough, he thinks he can possibly win and we will tire of the fighting and go home. Greed and hubris are not good qualities.
Firstly, this is a big mistake on his part - and he could be the next target in the bombing. Secondly, "we will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail". Amen!
I am confident our brilliant military has already thought of this - and is dealing with it appropriately. And ... I do think this may be the reason we revealed we had pictures of Saddam being taken away on a stretcher. Now the guy knows we suspect what he's up to.

This means he's dead.
Iraqi spokesmen are having an "opposite day".

I think you're right.

A coalition takeover and subsequent adjustment of programming of their big TV stations would seem to be a good idea. Wonder if we're considering such?
