"Yes, I learned there are 281 tiles on the ceiling in Mr. Cobb’s office."

Ha! I like this kid's attitude. Glad he's an American and not a Ukrainian.

Cobb acknowledged that the Renaissance School Handbook never explicitly addresses the issue of carrying a toy weapon to school.

So to be clear with his students, Cobb said that he went to every 6th-grade class on opening day last September and spoke about the conduct code, specifically addressing the subject of “plastic or toy guns.”

This, my friends, is called "covering your six" (o'clock)

The kid should have dressed as a condom. They would have advanced him a grade.

someone needs to smack the school boards of this country with a simple binary fact: weapons are not toys; toys are not weapons.
How are morons, who cannot distinguish reality, supposed to teach any useful thing to our children?

"...the nearest the booklet comes to addressing the topic of bringing a toy gun to school is a clause that refers to “possession of a weapon other than a firearm.” "

They're wrong and the kid is right, simply on the basis of their own written policy. If he sues, he'll win.

Looks like I picked the wrong century not to major in law!

This is another perfect example of a dysfunctional, school district that has too many people with too much say in how the darn school is ran. In Kansas City, there is a group of boys who forced a 12 yr old girl in the bathroom. They turned the lights off, got her on the floor and started groping her etc.. she was screaming and fighting back as much as possible..got to the door and it had been locked BUT there were kids outside tryign to get in. Well, all the perps were identified, but the police were not called and not all received a suspension. IF that isn't the most idiotic thing I don't know what is.. Stupid ignorant administrators afraid of 'bad publicity', etc..

“I was shocked because I knew it was supposed to be a portrait day for kids,” Nmesh told The Times. “This was part of a costume. The last thing in the world I was expecting was for Daniel to be punished.”

Nmesh said that she was born in the Ukraine when it was part of the old U.S.S.R

I guess she didn't expect such idiocy and stupidity, because even the commie schools weren't as loony as the one her son is in now.

I asked Daniel, ‘Did you learn a lesson?’ He said, ‘Yes, I learned there are 281 tiles on the ceiling in Mr. Cobb’s office.’

I like this kid.

“I asked Daniel, ‘Did you learn a lesson?’ He said, ‘Yes, I learned there are 281 tiles on the ceiling in Mr. Cobb’s office.’ He was punished for something he didn’t really understand.”

"Yes, I also learned that the administration at my school are flaming @$$ holes."
