...hardly an appropriate description of Brian David Mitchell Why do you say that? Looks? Look at Rasputin, Manson, Satan (via the serpent) - all ugly seducers.

Kidnapping a girl at knifepoint from her home, taking her to a hole in the ground, and tying her up and raping her while someone else holds her down, is not what most people would call "seduction".

I'll feel better about their decision if they don't sell book and movie rights to anyone.

Even after reading the latest news articles regarding Elizabeth being held at knifepoint, stripped by that awful woman, tied to a tree, raped by that creep, threatened and then thrown into a hole covered with boards and dirt, could the doubters ever believe that there may be very good explanations on why a terrified young girl--in fear of her life and doing anything to survive--did not run away or was not rescued sooner by her family!!!How do you KNOW that is true? Who said that happened (I heard the police did not want to ask here questions..)
To: RnMomof7
Police have questioned her several times already, and appear to believe what she's told them, since they've found physical evidence to corroborate, and they've filed charges based in part on what she's told them. It's her parents who have said they're not questioning her, as they want to let her tell them these things to when she's ready, and not force the issue when the family is trying to enjoy being together again and trying to help Elizabeth feel safe and secure again.

Ask yourself how and why we know these details if the family purports to want to suppress the gory details (to protect the child) by avoiding a prosecution. Why does the family even countenance, "field", movie and book deals? Please remember to make a distinction between allegation and facts. Besides, seduction does not have to be about sex. A seduction could have taken place before and after such an alleged rape and the behavior of the victim seems to imply that one did. No fault of the victim and just as sinister of the perv/perp who ought to face the death penalty if convicted IMHO.

What does living in Utah have to do with anything? Absolutely nothing. That was the point.
That makes less sense then asking you if you're a blond. Are you?
Hmmmphhft. No, I'm blonde. There's a huge difference. Right, guys?
Guys?
To: FreePaul
The victim of the crime is going to have to testify. No!
A direct eye-witness--not Elizabeth--will be on the witness stand.
See #78.
...rest assured, Elizabeth will never ever testify. Without doubt Wanda Barzee--who witnessed absolutely everything--will testify in exquisite detail against Brian David until her eyeballs fall out to avoid spending the rest of her life in a Utah slammer.

So the police have publicized her future testimony? Doesn't that prejustice a future jury? How do we know she is telling the truth and not saying what she was told to say?
I would say this is grounds to have the place of the trial moved..it is very unprofessional
To: GovernmentShrinker
Somebody, probably illegally, either the police or the family, is releasing these details while protesting that they don't want any details released. Me thinks that they doth protest too much.

I had a friend who was murdered by her husband. He chased her through the house and caught her in the children's bedroom. She was stabbed over 20 times in front of the children. The oldest child I think was about 12.
The family did some kind of plea bargain that he got only about 12 years, because they didn't want the children to have to testify in court. The lawyer made it clear that he would drag it out with them unless they accepted the bargain, and they did. The judge was livid about it, calling it a atrocious miscarriage of justice. The kids were whisked away upstate, we didn't see or hear from them again.
I guess we could all understand it, and only the family really understood what the kids went through.
If that is the reason, I guess the Smarts must have a better idea than anyone what they need to do to protect their daughter. Maybe the last thing they want is to have her testify in court about her sexual relationship with this pervert, when kidnapping charges will do just as well.

Blonde- I got it! Spelling correctly can be highly challenging, with the English language having so many irregularities!
To: henbane
Doesn't she have to testify, if the defense calls her as a material witness?
To: I still care
If it is the STATE that prosecutes the case against Mitchell, how could the Smarts influence it to the degree in the murder case that you mentioned? How could the family of the murdered mother get away with this, legally? I am not saying I don't understand their motivations. But, I didn't know that the families could intervene in such a way.

How do you KNOW that is true? Who said that happened (I heard the police did not want to ask here questions..) "Mr. Skordas also said it might even be possible to use videotapes of the 8 to 10 hours of interviews that investigators have already had with Elizabeth."
