Here's another, showing him right about the time he raped Samantha Gailey. Notice the coldness in his eyes, the hardness in his face. He's every bit as monstrous as those Nazis he's always going on about. I have no trouble at all imagining him as a death camp guard.

Polanski raped her at Nicholson's house, I believe.

This is Exhibit "A" in the list of reasons why we don't let the victims of a crime decide the punishment for the offender.

What is the purpose of the "You have selected a link to an external website" page when clicking on a link around here?

LOL, been wondering that for a few years myself but never got around to asking. Maybe someone will answer.

Caption:"Zank heaven for leetle gells."

I read the disposition (post #11). He drugged her with a combo of alcohol and Quaaludes, had sex with her over her protests, then when she told him she was not on the pill, he forcibly raped her anally (presumably to avoid the chance of pregnancy)

At the last minute the judge, Laurence J Rittenband, changed his mind and demanded Polanski stand trial. Faced with up to 50 years in jail, he fled to Paris and has been unable to return to the US since for fear of being arrested.

The French are so sophisticated. They are our ally. Chiraq is not a Saddamite worm. 2 + 2 = 5.

I remember a few years ago, he was attending a party inside the American embassy in Paris. While inside, someone told him (damn, snitch) that INSIDE the American embassy is considered American soil. He could have, and should have, been legally arrested, and sent back to the USA for trial. I hear he about RAN out into the (safe for criminals) streets of Paris.

Sets bad precedent to allow a violent crime to be forgiven simply because the the criminal escaped our borders... no matter how long. It merely points to the tragedy that he was not given back to the U.S. to face prosecution.

The rapist perhaps has a political career ahead of him. Let's see, would he run as a Republican or a RAT? Which party would chase him, and which party would embrace him? That's a toughee.

It allows FR to record/track of what external links are followed.

I remember the old lawsuit brought by the Wash Post and, I believe, the LA Times. One of the contested issues was whether FR was merely being a sponge of news or was also adding visitors to to the news sites from whcih stories were culled. It got into site referrer statistics and had to rely on the news sites themselves to fess up to the positive benefit of FR.

Now FR knows the facts without the assistance of referrer logs from other sites.

That's my best guess anyway. Probably also doesn't hurt to give the "you're leaving FR" reminder to Internet newbies either.
