We are well overdue for a deadly pandemic. Stuff like this makes people stand up and take notice.

Sounds like the 1918 flu that killed my grandfather and millions of others,,it was deadly and they got the pneumonia from the flu virus, not from secondary infection. This is scary.

50 identified victims with 23 showing signs of pneumonia-- that is truly a heavy hitter in the world of infectious disease.

yeah, I couldn't tell if it was 50 or 73 and alot of them are in hospital and critical,,truly a scary bug. We best all run out and get some antivirals and have them on hand.

I never watch or read The Stand when I have a cold. Or even a runny nose.

I always worry when hospital staff take a hit. They are explosed to alot of stuff and have immunity to alot of different bugs. For them to take a hit like this does not bode well for civilians. Just my opinion.

That is what makes a true pandemic outbreak scary. Your medical staff is decimated as with the general population. You end up recruiting untrained volunteers to help deal with the problem. I hope this isn't the beginning of something big. Maybe they have a handle on it already.

I hope China did not let something nasty loose.

As I sit here with flu-like symptoms this isn't what I want to read.

It sounds as though there are only a few cases in Asia at this point. I hope you feel better soon. Sorry if I made you uneasy.

"This is "B" strain virus. What strain did we vaccinate for this year? "My understanding is that vaccinations contain protection against both subtypes A and B. Maybe someone who is medically trained may elucidate on the subject.
