Any law attempting to do the things stated in the article is completely unacceptable.

Could be a left-wing mischeif-making news reporter working to undermine the President and divide conservatives. It's what the left does best. It's about all they have left.

No offence, but do you love big brother, or do you really LOVE BIG BROTHER!!!
If you have read the draft, you know that there are some real threats to our LIBERTY in it.
FYI, Daschle and Clinton are the sponsors...

It's not the place of laws to regulate BELIEF or PRIVATE CONSCIENCE but to regulate BEHAVIOR.

Yeah, I don't feel any safer with this new Dept. in action. In fact I feel even more nervous now, about my own government!
Terrorists are not a big item of concern where I live, they would make good fertilizer. Most folks around here are more worried about our own JBTs running amok.

The opposite ends of the political spectrum are coming together over the war on terror, but not in the way Attorney General John Ashcroft may have wanted. Some conservative groups are finding common ground with organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union and the Bill of Rights Defense Council, expressing concerns about the effect that the USA Patriot Act and a possible follow-up law, the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, could have on civil liberties. Thank God!! It's about time! The Bill of Rights is being gutted and up to now very few were saying anything about it. Hopefully, things are changing.

Yep, all they have to do is say you are a terrorist and kiss what little rights you do have good-bye.
Course the Demosocialists will love it, gives Hillary and her ilk more power when they regain the Congress and she takes the throne (oops, meant "becomes President").

You are right there. This is what the left has been trying to do for years. Now they are getting what they want.

Good point - if freedom and privacy are not important to most citizens, then of course there will be no outcry when these are removed. But they're rarely if ever removed wholesale. Always a little bit at a time, and usually from someone else... and when it's your turn what's there to do but go along?
Take a gander at how another respected Western nationality went down this road all the while thinking they were free...
That water warm enough yet...?

...federal agents could secretly arrest people and provide no information to their family, the media or their attorney until charges are brought, no matter how long that took...Hello Third World! We'll be a laughingstock in the human rights community if this debacle passes! (Wouldn't surprise me if W signs it, however.)
