How is it Israel-first to support a war that might marginally benefit Israel and benefits the US more? And why did more Jews oppose war than support it in Congress.

Newt did not advocate unlimited immigration. He attempted to restrict immigration. I agree with you on Puerto Rico, but it doesn't matter since that failed anyway. Get your facts straight.

Most of America felt that way; there was almost no support for the US to enter the war. It took a very timely attack on Pearl Harbor to piss us off. Most Americans felt, rightly in my view, that Hitler was Europe's problem.

The 9/11 terrorists didn't attack America because they hated Israel, they attacked America because their leaders told them America was the enemy.Well,on one hand that's true and on the other, there is reason to believe that our support of Israel was related to why they attacked the World Trade Towers. Osama bin Laden stated, shortly after the attack, that America was hated because Americans had 1)a consumerist mentality,2)a poor moral value system which Americans sought to impose on them, and 3)a knee-jerk response to support Israel,in all matterss related to the mideast.
I remember reading his words as everyone was frantically putting their spin on why we were attacked which usually ended up with attributing it to their jealousy of our standard of living and our position as a world power.
I wondered why we did not at least look at why he said they attacked us,but sadly I realized that we,as a nation, are not introspective.

The trouble with Pat's thesis is conservatives, going back to the first Gulf War, wanted to take out Saddam. Sometimes interests coincide.
