Helen and I will be in Hawaii on the 29th.

WOW! You're gonna be having more fun that I am. I'll be at the Hobby Center to see "Kiss Me Kate" at 2 p.m. on the 29th. Will try to keep the prior weekend open for FReeping, however.

Well there goes a meeting on the 29th then.

Until our next meeting or Freep event, will attempt to keep people updated via threads and/or e-mail. We are overdue for a meeting, but Freeps are so much more fun. If we don't have another meeting until April, not a big loss - just make sure we Freep when we can in the meantime.

Hi folks...I am extremely new to this website and forum...I have just registered at the Houston website for the FR and am awaiting a chance to get in there and make myself available...

For a little background...And Ya'll will like this...On Feb 11th, 2003, I was the "lone" desenter against the anti-war crowd assembling that day before the Houston City Counsel...I did not see a single supporter of our troops, our President or our country in that hall that day...

Now before ya'll get riled up...I am not being critical of anyones efforts to counter the forces of the anti-American crowd...If anything I would really like to get to know all of you who post here and keep up with events that are happening in our city...

I felt very alone, and up against an extreme amount of hostility...Not that I am fearful of anything like that, but it would have been really neat to have and be able to support others who believe as I do...

If anyone is active today on this thread...Feel free to contact me at your convienience...Like I said I am not up on the Houston site just yet...

citizenkane@houston.rr.com

I look forward to meeting all of you...

Best Regards,
Steve

Well Stevie_d_64: We will add you to our growing list in Houston.

Good work attending the meeting on 11 Feb. The problem with us attending the Houston City Council meeting of February 11 was very simple: We have jobs and it is very difficult/impossible to get off work (especially on short notice) to attend a City Council meeting. Large percentage of the anti-war movement doesn't have jobs. Very few were more happy than us when word came that the resolution failed.

There are more in favor of what President Bush is doing than the media will admit.

Couldn't resist posting this. Yours truly circa 1990 after a British friend of mine told me I "didn't have the guts" to do it. The rest is history...

Well I was kinda lucky that day I guess...I just felt compelled to do that...No need to let their message (if you can call it that) go without some sort of counter...

When we all get a chance to get together...Somebody is going to have to make sure I get in the call loop! hehehe I'll be glad to tell the whole story...

Do ya'll get together every Friday night at that fountain over there???

As for the counsel meeting I happen to work downtown, and walked over to city hall, got on the list, and the rest is history...If anything you should have seen the folks that followed me out afterwards...

I tell ya I felt naked without the great equalizer...Those are some very passionate people that are so anti-American and anti-Bush...one was Iraqi-American (I hate the hyphens!) He asked me why I want to kill Iraqis??? I told him theres only one that needs rehabilitation...That shut him up real quick...

I could on and on...

I have yet to master this forum and its many discussion groups...I almost didn't find my way back in here...I'm going to check the local Houston website...

But if anyone feel like I can come in and participate and mingle with good folks that think alike...Please feel free to use that e-mail till I figure this place out...

If anyone is getting together somewher later this week or this weekend, lemme know...I'll see if I can peel myself away...hehehe

Later,
Steve

You have been added to our notify list. When we have events in the Houston area (or elsewhere in Texas), we will notify the entire list. In the meantime, feel free to respond to thread/start new threads as you see fit.

Sorry I'm late getting to check out the rally threads. The past week has been hectic and things are finally settling down enough to get in here again.

None of my pen pals are on the USS Camden but I have a site saved where I can send e-mails to any particular ship. I can't send pics with them but I can send your comments about the truck with the message in the back window. With luck, that family's son will see it and reply. Then I can send the pics, which I've saved. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Thanks, Houston FReepers, for all you do in support of our troops!

Include a link to this thread in your e-mail. As they scroll down the thread, they can see the pictures.

If you don't know how to send the link, let me know.

I don't know if posting a link will do much good. Only the higher ranking folks have internet access as far as I know. Out of all my pen pals, only two have access. That's why I send pics from the different rallies in e-mails. I'm determined to get the news of support to those protecting the country one way or another. :-)

Did y'all see the article in yesterday's Houston Comical about the weekly anti-war potests at the Mecom Fountain? Dix was quoted AND he got in a plug for Free Republic!

Way to go, Dix!
