Bet you won't see this on the national news, any more than you saw the scenes of thousands of law-abiding people peacefully showing support for our President and troops.

An anti-war march against the U.S. policy on Iraq by about 500 Canoga Park High School students turned ugly Wednesday when some in the crowd started looting a gas station convenience store and disrupting traffic.

Yep. Par for the course.

This section of the San Fernando Valley is heavily populated by illegals and their offspring.

What do you expect from children whose parent's first act upon entering the US was to break the law?

I was wondering what happened to the school's sign.

(And people wonder why we spend the extra money to put our daughter in a private school.)

Store owner Masood Behroozi said his clerk saw several students knocking over racks, breaking glasses and swiping snack foods.

Doesn't sound like they're respecting the doctrine of multiculturalism to me.

That looks like a Persian name. Possibly one of Iranians
here who wish this thing would get underway so that then
Iran can be restored to a real democratic republic.

The "books not bombs" strike yesterday was just an excuse for kids either to sleep in and skip class, or to engage in this sort of hooliganism. Thus shall it be for the next several months, I fear.

A group of students who skipped class to participate in the lunchtime protests

Maybe they should have eaten lunch first.

...who skipped class to participate in the lunchtime protests stole candy bars and knocked over displays at the Mobil gas station...

Don't you know their parents are soooo proud!

Canoga Park and its schools were nothing but seedy when I lived there 20 years ago. I can't imagine how fabulous it is today. A high school riot is generally not a good sign.

It's the porn capitol of the universe, you know.

The school sign was broken a couple of weeks ago, it was hit by a car as a result of a traffic accident. My daughter goes to that school.I stood on the street yesterday and debated students and teachers about the war. Search and you will find a long post detailing some conversations I had with various people. Fish in a barrel. The school is 60% mexican,30% black and 10% the rest. I have repeatly asked if my daughter wants to change schools and she just shrugs and says No this place is fine. She is 16 and will be testing for her Black Belt in April. She is doing just fine there, It's actually a good school with a small number of bad kids, just like most places. Really nice weather.
