Anti-war 'shields' in Iraq go home

What does this say to the anti-war left that Iraq would even accept "human" shields. An honorable country would say "Thank You for the gesture, but we really mustn't endanger you in this manner.

As long as it's understood by them that the West is led by a blood-thirsty tyrant with no regard for human life. ;)

The opposition, represented by the "virtual shields" are, in comparison, child-like and unserious...It's like Spring Break but it feels so much more serious...to qualify you need small brain, large mouth and no guts. And please don't muss my hair or makeup.

Good post! Everything about these leftist protester types reeks of spoiled brattiness. That's the impression I get everytime I see them. The adults are managing the serious business of a war and these people are getting stoned, taking off their clothes, and putting on a puppet show. Or going to Baghdad and doing the Chicken Dance.

Mr. Meynell, a former high sheriff of Derbyshire,said he was leaving out of "cold fear." He had been summoned, along with 200 other shields from all over the world, to a meeting at a Baghdad hotel yesterday morning. Abdul Hashimi, the head of the Friendship, Peace and Solidarity organization that is officially host to the protesters, told the shields to choose between nine so-called "strategic sites" by today or leave the country.

Boy, they get a little taste of what it is like to be an Iraqi citizen (except they have the option to leave the country) and they have a sudden "revelation" and remember that they have something to do under the blanket at their nice cozy homes in free countries. Gutless hypocrites.

So the human shields want to be near civilians while the leader of the "Peace, Friendship, and Solidarity Committee of Iraq" wants them to cover their military sites. How about a compromise? Iraq has a mosque in the middle of a munitions depot, and supposedly worshippers are bussed in five times a day. They can guard the mosque!

Many shields had earlier asked to be stationed at sites such as schools, hospitals or orphanages, but Iraqi officials said there was little point in guarding low-risk targets in any aerial assault.


Even the Iraqi officials agree that we aren't the hate-filled, war mongering, kill everyone in sight regime that the war protesters have painted us.
