Fox News Channel (yes, the national cable channel, not just the local affiliate!) ran footage of our rally this morning during the 7:30am (central time) newsbreak on Fox & Friends!
(Unfortunately, I didn't get it on tape.) :-(
But we actually made the national news!

Sorry we didn't get to meet you at the rally. Afterwards, many of us were at basil's when the 6:00 news ran your interview. The minute we saw your name on the TV, several of us said "there's a FReeper whose screen name is lormand, bet that's him!"
Good interview, ya done good! I took several pix of the face-off between the radical leftists and the patriots, hopefully they will turn out. Didn't know at the time there was a FReeper in that group, but it doesn't surprise me at all. I especially loved it when y'all started chanting "U-S-A, U-S-A" and drowned them out!

That rally was therapy for me. If I cannot fight on the foreign front, I can at least fight on the domestic front.
As my kids get older, I will become more active. However, I work downtown and often engage the "useful idiots" who infest the Capital with protests, I am perhaps more active than most in that regard.

TheSarce brought at least 7 American flags and picked up her lost one from the Clinton freep. A Vietnam Vet was holding it for the Clinton freep and didnt know who it belonged to so brought it to this one and figured that whoever owned it would show up and claim it. I love Conservatives!!! He was a great guy. He told me he figured if he just took it to enough conservative events, the owner would eventually claim it. The funny thing is, after it disappeared a couple of weeks ago, I was never terribly worried about not getting it back -- I was just as certain that whoever ended up with it would turn up at one of these rallies.
I had just barely arrived and set down my armload of stuff when I looked twenty feet across the crowd and spotted my missing flag flying proudly in the light breeze. I went over to him and said "you must have been at the Clinton protest the other week," and he looked confused for about one-and-a-half seconds. Then he grinned and said, "this must be your flag."
You're right, conservatives are the best!

When I got home last night I noticed a fax that had been laying on the floor for weeks and read it from a lady who got my name off a letter of support for Bush that I wrote to the Statesman. She wanted to connect to join forces to Support the troops.
I felt soooooo bad thinking that she must have been at the rally that afternoon. Sure enough when we connected she is the one with the sign "I VOTED FOR NADAR IN 2000 AND IN 2002 VOTED STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN" I couldn't believe that I hadn't gotten this story at the rally and now I will.
She has been a lurker and is the Coordinator of the AUSTINS ( Americans United Supporting Troops in Nations' Service) Patriots. They send a banner to military installations to show we do support them.
We will have a bigger network for getting people to the rallies.

Good to hear you had a good turn-out. My daughter is a student at UT and and I TOLD her to go to the rally. We LOVED our Houston RALLY FOR AMERICA Saturday. My daughter's roommates went to hear Clinton speak the other day in Austin. I told her to go protest outside the building, but she had a test that night....

I've been told that I was also shown on KEYE too.
So far, I have been shown on KVUE, KEYE and News 8 Austin.
The News 8 Austin was video only. I am shown verbally assualting a "useful idiot", while holding Old Glory.

200 today, 2000 next time! Great work Austin FReepers! I believe The Bat Lady is losing her eye sight. Bob, there were at least 700-800 of us there. I'd estimate close to 20 were Austin Freepers. The press estimated 800.
GO TEXAS!!!!!!!!!

Howdy Lormand,
Was nice to meet you at the rally. You made us proud. Looks like the first time freeper got his picture over all the local stations. :-)
You did good in those interviews.

Thanks Gracey. This was my first official Austin freep. However, I freep the creeps how infest the Capital at least once a week. I work downtown, and often see these "people" in front of the Capital on Congress street.
In that context, I freep constantly, just not with my FR companions physically present with me.

This was our very first rally and my husband and I brought our two little boys. (They were so cute waving their flags that someone from the UT paper came up to take their picture.) We will definitely be going to the next one, and we have even committed my in-laws to attend with us! Just wish we could come up with some clever and creative signs as wonderful as the ones we saw. One more thing: we were especially impressed by how happy, polite, and gracious everyone was! Who wants to associate with grumpy old scowling liberals when we can hang out with a much more fun crowd like y'all???? THANKS, AUSTIN FREEPERS!!!
To: chgomac
You sure sound like Dottie from Germany! from chgomac
I sent you a private reply. I would like to talk more about this.
Please check your freep mail by going to the main site FR and clicking on "you have mail"
Thanks The Bat Lady
To: lormand
BTW, our rally was on FoxNews...yes the cable channel. Saw it today. They showed some of the neat signs.
