That's kind of funny!

I only saw one Dead show. It was in Atlanta, probably around 82-84. I went with a friend who "knew somebody" so we had free tickets. I'd never liked the Dead at all, never got the attraction. I didn't understand why all those people with long poles stuck in the air were turning around giving me dirty looks when I would clap and cheer!

A better show at the Fox was B/B. King, around the same time frame. A DJ in Birmingham was dating my roomie, and he had free tickets, and I had a dependable car. (Dad always saw to that!)

I will tell you though, I don't miss going to rock concerts.
My first was Led Zepplin in 1976, although an older cousin of mine swears she took me to see the Buckingham Nicks in '72. I don't remember that at all!
One of the best concerts I saw was Jennifer Holiday doing her stuff from Dream Girls.

My last concert was probably Sting, or George Thoroughgood. And in between there were many more.

I wish I had back every second of time spent in those endeavors. I wish I had back every penny spent on supporting those loser liberal rockers.

My son is 11, and he's never been exposed to rock music. We have taught him to love and appreciate good music.

Now, when rock music comes on, in a store or resturant, he pegs it. He listens to the words, tries to get a bead on it, shakes his head and says "boring"!

Well, if it's any consolation, I like "good" music too. Virtually anything except opera, (c)rap and twangy country-western is A-OK with me.

I've sat in the rain at Dead shows and in a tux in a Vienna concert hall listening to Mozart played on period instruments by musicians in full powdered-wig dress. Hard to say which provides better memories . . . . . . .

From your link: "Christian rock only brings the degradation of rock and roll to a Christian audience."

If this is your belief, then You have no idea how your self righteous attitude turns off people to christianity.

Grace doesn't need your help.

Oh boy... do YOU ever have a shock coming, in about three to five years.

Word of advice: Either loosen the shackles a little, or learn to like cheap scotch.

Don't you think if you learn to appreciate good music the bad and banal will hold no attraction to you?

One of the other reason I avoid Rock music is because the people who perform it are a bunch of liberal losers.

I have better things to do with my money than support a bunch of drug addled liberals!!!!!

The truly sickening part of this: Some here would seem to intimate that "rock" music somehow was to blame for this tragedy, and that those attending were somehow then complicit.

It was awful. People died in horrible ways, either overcome by smoke and fire or trampled by others. There's just no good way to characterize it.

But to imply that the music itself is to blame, is to make a classic "new" christian mistake.

Jael: I can appreciate your enthusiasm, but truly speaking, you're obviously fairly new in your "walk". With time will come wisdom. Please don't dain to tell others what is true and what is not, not quite yet.

Yes. I would agree. I like lots of good music. Thorogood, AC/DC, Black Crows, Creed, Big Country... just for starters.

One of the other reason I avoid Rock music is because the people who perform it are a bunch of liberal losers.

I don't happen to care about the political beliefs of musicians, any more than I expect them to care about the best way I would set up Cisco IOS to do GRE IPSec tunnels on a WAN. I build networks, and in my company there are many many liberals that use the networks I build. It would be senseless for them to "boycott" my network merely because a "conservative" built it. Unless they get in my face, I won't get in theirs. From musicians I only expect music.

I have better things to do with my money than support a bunch of drug addled liberals!!!!!

Like Ted Nugent???

Get real...
