Following WWII the US took control of Japan. People said that a democracy would never survive in Japan, too much regional and tribal history. They were wrong, and the people who say the same of Iraq are wrong as well.

In a couple of months the Iraqi people will be replacing Sadams image with that of G.W.Bush-cowboy- not because they have to, because they want to. And the nay-sayers of Europe will be scrambling to have influence over the new government they did their best to prevent.

(a)Iraq does not pose a threat to international security

That is a false statement. The Hussein regime has long engaged in aiding, comforting, and providing material support to international terrorists, whom we all agree pose a threat to international security.

(b)war is not the way to ease the suffering of the Iraqi people.

Thinking warm, fuzzy thoughts hasn't done very much for them for the past 12 years, now has it? Recall that it was Hussein which ordered the gassing of civilian Kurdish villages in the late 1980s.

Maybe I should give it the benefit of a doubt and assume that the euron is on the UN web page, desperately seeking the 1999 UNSC resolution authorizing us, the Brits, French, and Germans (for cryin' out loud) to kick the crap out of Serbia. Maybe I was too cruel to it, not putting up the "Trick Question Alert". Perhaps it is e-mailing its local Greenlaborcommusocialist Party official, looking for additional talking points. I was really hoping it would keep playing, not pick up its noballs and run home. I prefer my Other White Meat skewered, and then slow grilled to a blackened perfection.

Leaving Saddam in power isn't what I want or like but it is the alternative to a war which will cause more human suffering than it is worth, and this is what Iraq is all about, right?

Okay, let's see.

Saddam has killed, by conservative estimates, over 1.5 MILLION of his own people, not including those killed through his funding of terrorist activities.

The number of Iraqi casualties in the Gulf War is estimated as up to 100,000, the vast majority of which were military personnel. The estimate of Iraqi casualties in the next war will be far fewer because of the anticipated mass surrenders by Iraqi soldiers. But for argument's sake, let's estimate the casualties at 50,000.

If you would do your math, provided you understand math, you would see that Saddam has inflicted TEN TIMES the amount of "human suffering" the Gulf Wars have and will cause.

Seems to me the Iraqi people are getting a great deal by ousting Saddam NOW.

I'm praying that Jorge is waiting for the UN not to perform and then kick them out of the US. Now do I have much hope for that to happen? Not really because Jorge hasn't done a damn thing about closing our borders. One out of two would be a start though!
