We can't remain entrenched in the middle east and coexist with the muslims. They will remain muslims, and it's not our business to try to change them. We have to put the fear of G-d into them so we will be able to deter future attacks against us.

I would never be so arrogant as to think we could or should try to change the Muslim people's relgion. It's the coexisting thing that seems insurmountable to me.

...still on-line researching Dr. Paul, write-in candidate for president in 2004, Libertarian ("but loved by Republicans and even Democrats too"). . I'll be back...

Being a small-l libertarian, I respect Ron Pauls views, and agree with alot of it. I mean, as a good conservative, I hate having our armed forces overseas, and I DO think we should get the heck out of whatever country we are not wanted in, and those who DO want us in there better have a damn good reason for us staying. I am an isolationist at heart.
That said, I respectfully disagree with Ron. This country has been at odds with Islam and the Middle East since the days of the Barbary Pirates. It IS true that they just dont like us, ask any good Islamist, and you will see that they DO INDEED intend to convert everyone, by whatever means neccessary.
No, I am afraid that isolationism just won't do. Too bad really, I'd seriously rather just build up "Fortress America" and tell the rest of the world that it could go f*ck itself..

So the great Ron Paul thinks the Japanese and the South Koreans are "tired of us?" Guess he didn't see the one million people marching in Seoul in a pro-USA rally the other day.
If this cretin were a liberal and not a libertarian, and came out with this "9-11 was America's fault"
bullsh@t, you'd all be demanding his scalp.
As I am. He has about as much credibility now as Scott Ritter.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER is an MD (Psychiatrist) and one of the brightest opinion writers in the business. (uh..next to Paul Johnson the historian.)

What no one in Washington has the cajones to say, is that Islam is the problem.Islam is definitely one of the problems. But it would have no foot-hold in our great nation is not for liberalism, particularly liberalism in the media.

Yes, while searching the board to see if this article had already been posted, I realized he had quite a presence here. I try to read everything of his I come across now.

we will be there as a warning beacon to any adventures by China in the futureMore than a warning, we will become the controller of China's source of petroleum. To paraphrase LBJ...Grab them by their gas pump and their hearts and minds will follow...HeHe

Can one imagine what it might be like if a true worldwide democracy existed and the United Nations were controlled by a worldwide, one man/one vote philosophy? The masses of China and India could vote themselves whatever they needed from the more prosperous western countries. How long would a world system last based on this absurdity? Yet this is the principle that were working so hard to impose on ourselves and others around the world. (Ron Paul) Oh really?
De Villepin added that he believes a war in Iraq would increase tensions in the Middle East, create instability and boost the risk of terrorism. He also voiced France's objection to any unilateral U.S. war on Iraq.
"The United Nations (news - web sites) is indispensable," de Villepin said. "The United Nations is the authority of legitimacy for the international community."
"We can only achieve peace together. And to do it, we would need the United Nations to organize, to bring their legitimacy to the action of the international community in Iraq."
Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) told Russia's state-controlled Channel One television in an interview aired late Tuesday that the United States was prepared to lead a war against Iraq with or without the consent of the United Nations.
France, Russia Vow No Iraq War Approval
Ron Paul needs to buy a clue. I can no longer tell whose side Ron Paul is on, and as such, his opinions have become totally irrelevant.
