I feel my firend is slipping away into this Anti Bush, Anti War on Terror conspiracy stuff and would really like to show him some things that might open his eyes.

If the State of the Union didn't do that, there may be little hope left.

Pacifica is the height of leftist wingnuttery. But the good news is that they are fighting among themselves over who is nuttier. Ses this for example.

It seems like you know most of what you need to know about WBAI. It is a Pacifica radio station and, like perhaps all Pacifica stations, it is a mouthpiece for the most radical, left-wing, anti-American hate speech and rediculous conspiracy theories known to man. I monitor the station with some regularity here in NY and would describe it as a radio version of the Democratic Underground, produced to sound like NPR. It is a place where all the disparite leftist protesters -- be they anti-war, anti-captitalism, anti-development, anti-globalism, you name it -- can find comfort and support. It is truly the voice of the farthest left elements in our society.

This outfit has been around at least since the 60s and was very big for the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. They are as far left as possible. If your wife ever bought anything from Bergdorf Goodman in NYC, she helped support it. The individual I remember who helps run Pacifica, from that family, is Amy Goodman (90pct sure). Of course the store is the most expensive around. Lots of moneyed types hate the U.S. Look at Hollywood.

If you wanna laugh, listen to Al "Grampa Munster" Lewis on Saturday mornings. Grampa Munster, beleive it or not, is an ultra leftist and a big Farrakhan supporter.

Now even if Muslim extremists did not take part in 911 they are being accused so it would be natural to have a show like this that allows people to bash the American government with noone there to respond in defense of America or George Bush.

Yes, this outlet for Free Speech should be stomped out immediately. Write your Congressman, call the President to put a stop to this dissent in the left wing media.

My comment had nothing to do with free speech. I wasn't saying that they shouldn't be allowed to broadcast, but in a question of whether or not they have an agenda for hating American policy, I would say that being Muslim would be a strong case. Nice try on the spin though.

I trust that your suggestion that the station be "stomped out" is in jest. As offensive as the station is to the sensibilities of most Americans, including me, every group has a right to express its opinions -- even left-wing wackos.

From what I understand BAI was bought up by Pacifica about a year ago and then fired all of the staff at BAI and hired their own.

I have had a lot of opportunity to listen to WBAI over the past 7-8 years. I have this to say about them.

WBAI...All Commie, All the time!

This was the station in NYC, that on the evening of 9/11 and morning of 9/12 '01 was playing middle eastern music and blaming the US for the WTC attack.

WBAI has been in serious financial trouble for years. When push came to shove about 2 years ago, new management discarded the utopian blather the network feeds all the dummies who listen to it and coldheartedly s***canned longtime staffers in the time-honored capitalistic tradition of eliminating deadwood.

The audience for the network is tiny, composed of simple-minded folks, like your buddy, who believe the powerful spend all their time conspiring about new ways to oppress the poor.

NJ ping for Mixer who requires more info about this radio station. Very left wing. I used to listen to the Gary Null Nutrition Show when I had the chance.

Thanks for putting the ping out there.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

I myself am listening now just to be able to see what my friend finds so informative about this station. Just now I went to get something at the supermarket and they had a guy on there talking about the SQL worm and how he didn't think they intended for it to cause any damage it's just that it propagated itself so many times that it did end up causing damage!!!!! The host agreed with him!!!!!!

I haven't listened to WBAI in years (I used to listen to "Hour of the Wolf", a science fiction show that was on for two hours on Saturday (?) mornings). One of my strongest things they ever ran was a full uncensored dramatic reading of the Marquis deSade's book Justine. No obscene language, per se, but it certainly was graphic.
