My Pekingese sneezes on me wheever I have done something that displeases her.

That's really interesting to me!! Maybe with their 'pug' little noses, that's something that comes natural to them!! And I always thought my little Potchy [yes, short for potlatch] was SO smart!! LOL.

My American Pit Bull Terrier does that when he gets excited and when he is frustrated with something... it's pretty hilarious. Maybe just the cutest dogs have that trait! Actually he does all kinds of unusual things... He grunts and moans when he's mad (when I push him to his side of the bed!) and makes gurgling sounds when someone rubs his belly!

That's when you start getting night-vision cameras (if there is such a thing), a tape recorder, surveillance equipment, trapping equipment....

OR

Human poison!

Seriously though, I can't believe that animal control did not do anything to remedy this situation. Obviously 40+ animals in a suburban housing district with only a small yard would be a human health hazard, but also hazardous to the animals. If she was that dirty, I just cannot believe that someone didn't do something about it earlier. My current family is large enough for me, especially expense wise. How on earth did she feed all of thos animals?

Isn't there laws already in place against what she is doing? I'm just curious as to how someone gets away with something like that.

My parents' Boxer "talks" when he is upset. "mamamamama" is what it sounds like he is saying. It cracks me up. Whenever he wants to play (usually around 1am) he starts nudging my mom and "talking" to her.

I have considered an American Pit Bull. Are they the same as an American Staffordshire?

Well, the Amstaff is the same breed. They originated when the AKC outlawed American Pit's as a recognizable breed, so the Pit Bull lovers gave them a new name "American Staffordshire." This is debated by APBT and AMSTAFF owners everywhere, but through the research that I have done, this is the conclusion I believe to be true. APBT are still not recognized by the AKC, just the UKC. Most Amstaffs are double registered as both American Pits and American Staffordshires. If you look closely at the different lines of dogs, you will see that there are lines in both breeds that look exactly the same, although Staffies have been bred to be a little "showier"(I don't even know if that is a word... my brain seems to slow down this late!). They have the same character traits and personalities as each other though.

They are such WONDERFUL dogs.

I'm not going to lie to you though, they take a ton of work. You have to start socializing them young, work with trainers, and never use any kind of aggressive discipline (as with most large breed dogs). One of the books I read before I came across my Buddy, is that owning a pit bull is not for the faint of heart. You have to know how to stick up for yourself and not take crap from people. Pit's need to know that you are the dominate one in the relationship.

The real reason you need to have a strong personality is because of all the idiots out there that truly have it out for the breed. Prepare for people to cross the street when they see you coming, give you dirty looks, make rude comments while in line at PetSmart while standing ten feet behind you talking crap to other PetSmart customers (personal experience!), and all of the other ridiculous stereotypical b.s. Unfortunately, I become very angry at people like that, so I am putting all my efforts into educating people about the truth and fighting BSL. I have the other kind of dirtbags who come up and ask me if I want to fight him. I used to just ask them if they would fight their children, but now I have found it more effective to say yes and then turn them in.

You will never find a truer friend, a truer love and such a willing (yet stubborn!) partner in your life. Most people that own Pit Bulls say they will never go back. I am one of those people. The biggest problem that I have with my dog is that he is too eager and the minute I tell him to sit, he sits/lies/rolls-over/speaks/shakes! Oh, and stuff mysteriously disappears off the top of the trash, though the trash looks untouched. Or how about when I wake up with this much bed space_ as apposed to his this much space_________. I swear, I truly forget that he is not a human.

Anyway, sorry if that was a bunch of ramble, I really need to start posting earlier! :) If you are really thinking about getting one, I have a TON of information!

I don't live in a city but this is one of the reasons. They have ridiculous limits on pet ownership. Geese make very nice pets but I had a friend who moved to the city, brought her German Shepherd and goose and they came and told her the goose couldn't live there ---which makes no sense at all. Who cares if someone has 40 cats inside their house if the cats are fed and clean? My neighbors have over 50 cats but they all get taken to the vet, have plenty of food, are all neutered, and only 4 or so live indoors.

Here's an article about a situation where a woman most definately had a few too many dogs. She should be put somewhere she can get competent psychological help.

The laws didn't work! If the dogs were STILL BARKING when the police got here, they'd give her a citation IF she answered the door. She had a lawyer and faught every citation in a civil court hearing with a jury.

She was a master at lying and the jurers were like some people on this thread - they thought we neighbors were just picking on her!! Did you know if you go to court against someone 10 or 12 times, you are not allowed to mention the previous trials?

She had the money to do anything she wanted!! Don't get mad, but the thought of sleeping with a pit bull is so funny.

Why is that funny? It's me, him and all my cats... pretty crowded but that's ok. The only terrible thing about it is that Buddy snores and I always seem to have no room by morning!

That is so fowl. People like that should be shot. Period. There is no hope for humans like that to be rehabilitated into society. She should get the same fate as her 500 dogs. Excuse me, I think I am going to be sick.....

"People like that should be shot. Period. There is no hope for humans like that to be rehabilitated into society."

I know a woman, who has documented mental illness, who, if not controlled would collect dogs and cats infinitely. The shelters around here know her, and there are restraining orders to keep her off their properties.

Her family does what it can to control her, but with the laws protecting the disabled these days, their hands are pretty much tied. She's well over the age of 21, and is an "adult".

Collecting and hoarding animals is a large part of her mental illness. She truly cares about the animals, but cannot care for herself, much less even one pet. In no way do I want to see her be allowed to just keep on collecting and neglecting, but I do see the problem with treating her like the average criminal.

I wish families had more ability to commit their mentally ill. As things stand now, it's practically impossible.

Me; Don't get mad, but the thought of sleeping with a pit bull is so funny.

You;Why is that funny?

I guess because pit bulls have had a bad reputation. I do believe how you raise a dog has much to do with their disposition, but there is still those 'inborn' genes that worry me.

My son-in-law raised a Doberman to be a 'guard dog'. A number of years later he had to put it to sleep because it bit his daughter twice!! She grew up 5 years with it, but the aggressive instinct took over.

She had a ten foot high chainlink kennel with a chainlink top over it, built for the cats. It had a cement floor and small building for them. It was on the other side of our privacy fence and towered over it!!

She also had kennels built for the dogs, but a bunch ran loose in her yard. When the stink got bad, we would climb on a ladder and take pictures of all the feces covering the cement!! Then she put tarps up so we couldn't see, LOL!!

Doberman's are naturally more agressive to humans that Pit Bulls are. Both are sweet dogs, they just need proper training. Pit Bulls actually are known for being big whimpy clowns. I'm sure if someone tried to hurt me, you would see his tough side or if I beet the crap out of him like some people do to their Pits. Otherwise, Pits do their "terror" reputation shame! They are also WONDERFUL with kids... look at my homepage :)
