It is war that seeks to avoid our military power and neutralize it by dividing us from within. We should be careful not to become alarmist. Seeing a cultural enemy behind every bush could quickly replace the anti-Communist syndrome that was often carried to extremes. It could produce an inquisition that would make the McCarthy witchhunts of the 1950s seem like children's hide and seek
This was written in 1995.
Either this guy had a crystal ball or he is pretty smart.....for a Marine.

Amazing how one word can alter the entire meaning of an essay such as this. When I first read this part:
In a fourth generation situation Marines would need to know that people have a right to assemble and assert themselves against abuses of power."
I thought it said this:
In a fourth generation situation Marines would need to know what people have a right to assemble and assert themselves against abuses of power.
Talk about a major doubletake...

"...Taking the right away from Americans, or enforcing such a restriction, could quickly make us the enemy of constitutional freedom..." Not 'could'...
Would.

Ok, now that the Marines understand this, where's the class for the police?

The fourth generation enemy is the progressive democrat(socialist.)

... ya know, that's not funny, it's sobering.
Why do MARINES have to uphold the constitution, even if it kills them, whereas the cops, bad ones mind you, seem to be infatuated with doing an end-run around it wherever they can.

it would be naive to presume there are no enemies out there just because the Communists are gone.If only. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of communists on the Mall in Washington just today, and C-SPAM turned over some 8 to 12 hours of air time over to them for an unopposed propaganda fest!

In a fourth generation situation Marines would need to know that people have a right to assemble and assert themselves against abuses of power. Denying that right to Americans makes them demand it more strongly.
I am glad that this Marine understands the Constitution better than you apparently do.

I guess I've been around here for about 5 years or so now. Time sure flies!
When Jim Robinson started this site, it was because he was fed up with the liberal media, and how they would not let people worldwide know about the corruption of the Clinton Administration. A few of us, equally concerned, (with great luck) found it fast.
In the early days, FR was a day-to-day operation, always on the brink of bankruptcy. Jim kept on, and we chipped in when it became too much. We knew how important this site was, and is. Sometimes, it came down to the wire, and we wrote checks, and sent them in, as best we could.
Look at it now. We all get our best information from this site. It is huge, with thousands of posters, and millions of readers. Yet Jim still keeps it alive because of his conviction, and he is absolutely NOT making a profit on it. He just believes. As do we.
BTW, did you know that the founder of this site is in a wheelchair (sorry Jim; I know you think it doesn't make a r*ts a$$ difference. Hey, some folks out there need to come down a peg, like I have.).
Think of it! In the darkest days of the Clinton Administration, there was a lone internet site where people with integrity, brains, and sheer gumption could discuss the dangers faced by the US. Not on CNN, for sure.
Earthmovers like Drudge, Ann Coulter, Rush, WFBuckley, his brother, Savage, Buchanan, both houses of Congress (many) check in to see what we think.
The opposition checks it out, too. Like the NY times staff, CNN, etc. Trust me, they all come here to read. Even YOUR post. You know by now how they are whining about Rush? We're next, as soon as they figure out how they can trash this site without it getting a million hits.
I've been broke; I've been not broke. I've slept in my car. I know how it feels to be squeezed tight with bills. Folks with giant bills: You're not alone, and you have friends here. :)
If you love this site as much as I do, please, please sign up for automatic payment of just $3 per month. Don't be embarrassed if you think this is too little. It absolutely is not. You $3 a month folks are our grassroots movement heroes. Be proud. Become one of the thousand points of light here, and you will so feel proud every month. We'll thank you for it, and are so glad to have you on board.
I know things are rough out there. But you are tough, and a member of the greatest grassroots freedom movement in 100 years. Together we are making history, and will change the world, as we already have. The best is yet to come.
Most countries out there would consider this website illegal. They hate us, for our freedom. Their systems cannot stand, in the face of Freedom. The people there read us when they can, when they are allowed to, and are not being tortured. They flock to us, America, because they want to be free. Help us help them.
Would you please, please consider signing up for just $3 a month? Please? Thats all it takes, really, believe it or not. You will make a world of difference, to, well, the world. Be proud, Americans, and please help out!

It is war that seeks to avoid our military power and neutralize it by dividing us from within. We should be careful not to become alarmist. Seeing a cultural enemy behind every bush could quickly replace the anti-Communist syndrome that was often carried to extremes. It could produce an inquisition that would make the McCarthy witchhunts of the 1950s seem like children's hide and seek. Fourth generation warfare will also be infantry warfare, war up close, in and among the people, and the infantrymen who can fight it cannot come from the low end of the intelligence curve. Ironically, in this age of technology, it is in the direction of the foot soldier that modern war demands we now move.
This man speaks with an understanding and a clarity that gives me hope for our future. In this cultural war that is now on the verge of running white hot, it is the individual citizen who must function as as member of an infantry that can fight where regular troops dare not. It's a battle that will be fought one on one and in a thousand separate engagements.
We're already fighting World War Four. It's a war without borders, boundaries or front lines. Think about the war that so many of our so-called 'educators' have been waging against our children. Think about the war that collectivist politicans have been waging against you and your paycheck and your property. Think about the assault against the concepts of right and wrong, good and evil - the bedrock of any civilized and free society - an assault led by the Marxist mulkticulturalist academics in our institutes of higher learning. Consider the hatred and the evil that motivates those who have promoted the war between men and women and the destruction of the family. Think about the clerics who preach sheepery and moral relativism from their pulpits - they are the clergy of oppression.
The enemies of human freedom and dignity, the enemies of our Constitution and of our nation are doing a splendid job of making themselves known. If you see soemthing that needs doing, then prepare carefully and plan well. It's almost time.

The enemies of human freedom and dignity, the enemies of our Constitution and of our nation are doing a splendid job of making themselves known. Yup. We are under attack on two fronts; by radical Muslims in aircraft and by the home grown culture warriors who infest our schools and government.
The actions of 19 religious nutcases have succeeded in bring about the over reaction (e.g. the PATRIOT Act, TIPS, TIA ad nauseum) the essay's author cautioned against.
This lurch toward tyranny was facilitated by the success of the Gramscians, Fabian socialists and their fellow travelers who have completely dumbed down a generation or two regarding what this country is about.
It's almost time.
I agree.
We have lost.
Time is short.
Take care

Reading truth like this is what makes FR great! I remember being so grateful to have found this site back when Clinton was in office...I felt so alone in seeing this socialism advancing and the country being underminded.
We are at war and the previous administration is linked to the enemy.

We have lost. Agreed. We have lost on so many fronts and in so many ways. And the hour is exceedingly late. Who owns and wields the weapons of mass distraction, that is, the media? What ideas reign in the vast majority of our schools and churches? We're sliding down into the thrid stage of what Gramsci envisioned - chaos and nightmare.
But the battle's not over. Not by half. The trouble with the 'victories' of the Machiavellian, Gramscian Left is that their triumphs are fragile; they contain the seeds of their own destruction. And there are still many of us who haven't surrendered our inner selves to this corruption of the mind, heart and soul. The article that started this thread is proof enough of that. Folks like us are proof enough of that.
