Elections? Castro denies his people the right to have free elections and they are not allowed to organize any opposition. Their laws deny them the right to freedom of speech and association. There is only one party in Cuba, the Communist Party. If I remember correctly, GW challenged Castro last year "to ensure certifiable free elections" and "to embrace democracy."

My hopes remain that Elian will not forget what happened to him here and the wonderful things he experienced in the USA. Time will reveal the truth, of that there is no doubt.

It's just so terrible to see how cheaply Elian's freedom was sold for. And devastating to know his mother died for nothing.
