I can't read Irish, but I can drink it.

Microsoft executives - AKA kings of innovation - are probably on the way to Ireland so they can buy out this browser & make sure it never sees the light of day...

This is a scam -- 780,000 lines of code in 6 months? That is 1400 lines of code per day. Bogus. Every media player built in? Can't wait until this guy writes a book on gun control (a CS prodigy wanting to go to Harvard?) Shounds fishy.

they found it boosted surfing speeds by between 100 and 500 percent Why do I expect there to be some huge unstated stipulation on when this will work (i.e., only on previously visited sites, sites that compress their pages specifically for this browser or something like that)?

It says 18 months, not 6.

18 yes... hence 1400 lines sorry for the typo. As for it being a joke, it may have started that way... but not only did I read about it on several sites today, I also got it via e-mail from someone...

Hehe.. I'm not communicating very well tonight, so lemme start over. First of all, I'm agnostic on the browser claim, but it does seem somewhat dubious. My crack on Microsoft was meant as a joke - which I should've made clearer. If anything, should Microsoft get the rights to this browser - assuming that the claim pans out - then we could expect a superfast IE on the market that much quicker (once they program the obligatory security holes.. j/k! ;)

Can't wait until this guy writes a book on gun control (a CS prodigy wanting to go to Harvard?) Shounds fishy I agree. A co-worker and I coded around 100,000 lines of assembler in 10 months. Non-stop, little sleep, and we both ended up in the hospital due to weakened immune systems (he of exhaustion, mine -- 10 days for Lyme disease/meningitis).
Then there's all of the testing. Pure balderdash.
I computed through standardized man-day calculations, that 100,000 lines of assembler represented 35 man-years of work (if each line of assembler is bug free).
We had 13 total bugs after release, and only three were major.
There is no WAY this kid did 780,000 lines of code in this little time.
He's probably reverse-engineered all of the DLLs that he uses, and counted their lines as well. MFC alone would do the trick.

I don't know anything about writing code. I'm glad there are plenty of knowledgable Freepers on this topic.
Question. Outside of the time parameters for the code writing thing- what could he have done to get that kind of increase in speed? Assuming he's not lying about it.

Such as the fabric which repels dirt, and unites industry and labor to oppose it...

This is a scam -- 780,000 lines of code in 6 months? That is 1400 lines of code per day. I doubt if he could have typed 1400 correct lines of code a day if it was already written.
If you believe that it's that fast and full featured you will love the one about the secret carburator that lets your car get 100 mpg on WATER.
