I thought I heard it reported this morning that Gibb died from a heart attack BEFORE surgery? Huh?

Barry Gibb confirmed he had not been present at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre for many of the key moments of his brother's treatment and said he had been told much of what he knew second-hand.

Now there is no doubt that Maurice's untimely death was a "Tragedy" and that's no "Jive Talkin'." But the BeeGees "Stayin' Alive" without Maurice? I didn't even know they were still around as a band to tell you the truth. It's been almost a quarter century since I heard something new by them on the radio.

Oddly enough, I was listening to the radio a little while ago, and the DJ said something about how the Bee Gees were essentially black listed after the disco craze. This suprised me, because they were more than a 'disco' group.

It could just mean that even 'some' celebrities get the same crappy treatment the rest of us do.

M.Gibb: Three brothers trying to be bigger than Beatles.

M.Gibb: We're still trying.

Q: You feel you haven't made it yet?

Q: But you certainly have had all the successes of the Beatles have had in the sense.

M.Gibb: All because they have stopped. If they had kept on going and John hadn't died and so forth. Who knows?

Q: But then that's what's great about you. Your group has survived where others has just stopped.

M.Gibb: It's the songs. It's the songs more than anything. If you can write a good song that last for years. I mean that is a great blessing. And the Beatles did that. But it's just that they are not productive anymore after that period. We were.

We just kept writing more songs and we do need to do.

When I was growing up, I witnessed the near overnight transformation of radio from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Cream to .. Disco - the Bee Gees seemed to be the vanguard of this troubling period in our nation's history. Rock&Rollers everywhere considered this the dark ages.

The Bee Gees were popular - but being inducted into the Rock&Roll hall of fame? Give me a break! Whatever it was, it wasn't Rock&Roll!
