anything meatlike goes to our dogs. anything fishlike goes to the cats. i've never cooked canned clams... but gabz' recipe looks like a project for me and my girl (she needs to cook us something for a girl scout patch... and we have a fryer). hmmm.

I did them in the deep fryer.

The recipe says to put 5 inches of oil in a Dutch oven and drop them in when oil is hot, for 5 minutes or until golden.

I don't eat fried oysters, but hubby does, so in the past he has taken my raw oysters and fried them up for sandwiches for work. He's been having a blast this week laughing about his clam sandwiches. They are just as good cold as right out of the fryer.

I don't do much fried foods, but I've got to tell you I will being doing these again and again. Set them on some paper towels for a minute orso - and that's it - they are not greasy at all - I was amazed. And I didn't use any kind of fancy oil. Just plain old supermarket brand vegetable oil.

I married a Catholic, 33 years ago, who came with an edict that I would NEVER cook tuna casserole, OR mac and cheese, until death do us part....lol.

The no-meat on Fridays obviously left a lasting impression on him.

It was MOST excellent.

I couldn't believe that leftovers weren't all soggy or gooey. If anything they tasted better the next day. and again today when I threw the last few of them on the cookie sheet with the fish sticks that were tonite's dinner!!!

I was really amazed and impressed with the recipe.
